Position Description
This position provides logistical support to Events and other operations departments of the Museum during the event rentals which include early mornings, daytime, evening and late night. These activities include setting up and breaking down tables and chairs, overseeing vendor and client activities during evening event hours, protecting the museum’s physical assets, and loading dock management. The position is part-time and compensation for hours worked from 12am-6 am will be paid an overnight differential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Act as liaison with the General Services Administration, and all other building tenants including the building engineers and security guards to ensure Museum events run smoothly.
- Oversee all client and vendor activities throughout the event, and load-out periods to ensure museum and building procedures are consistently followed.
- Ensure the protection of the National Building Museum and building by conducting thorough pre-and post-event inspections, and reporting damages to Operations staff for billing and repairs.
- Coordinate with NBM staff for internal program and event setup, break-down, and logistical coordination.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma.
- Facility or office management experience.
- Event logistics experience strongly preferred.
- Experience operating A/V equipment a plus.
- Professional and courteous.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a professional setting.
- Computer competency.
- Capable of heavy physical work.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and frequently push, pull, and move equipment an fixtures.
- This position supports events and programs, which is not a standard schedule.
- Special consideration will be given to applicants who can work early (6am) for load in and late night (after midnight) for load out.
