JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

The Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable for utilizing the nursing process to provide safe, age-appropriate, direct and indirect patient care, while practicing within the scope of practice of the Oregon State Board of Nursing.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

The Mental Health teams at Samaritan Health Services provide a full range of professional mental health services through a team of highly skilled psychiatrists, psychologists, nurse practitioners and licensed clinical social workers.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
-
Current unencumbered Oregon RN license required.

Healthcare Provider Level BLS required. Other certifications may be required for department specific positions.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

Computer Literacy - Knowledge of electronic equipment, computer hardware and software, including applications and programming. Ability to operate applications, write software, set up functions, enter data, and manipulate and process information.

Critical thinking - Ability to analyze, organize, prioritize and make effective critical decisions.

Problem Solving - Ability to identify complex problems, review related information, employ creativity and alternative thinking to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Patient Care - Possess the skills and knowledge needed to assist and care for others. Ability to recognize symptoms, drug properties and interactions, treatments, and preventive health-care measures within scope of practice. Ability to assess, evaluate and reassess, using the nursing process; the ongoing needs of the patient, patient's family and organize resources to meet those needs. Knowledge of role for applicable Plain Language Alerts.
