Job Description
Summary/Objective: The Assistant Bar Manager supports the daily operations of the bar, ensuring exceptional guest service, efficient service execution, and compliance with all alcohol, health, and safety regulations. This role assists in supervising staff, maintaining inventory, supporting scheduling and training, and ensuring a clean, organized, and welcoming environment. The Assistant Bar Manager works closely with management to drive operational excellence and a positive team culture.
Essential Job Functions: Specific duties include, but are not limited, to the following:
Key Responsibilities:
Bar Operations & Service Execution
•Support daily bar operations, including assisting management on the floor as needed, ensuring efficient and high-quality service during all shifts.
•Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with standard recipes and presentation guidelines.
•Assist in ensuring timely and accurate delivery of food and beverages.
•Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including glassware, equipment, and workspaces.
Leadership & Team Support
•Provide guidance and support to bartenders and bar staff during shifts.
•Assist in training new employees on procedures, customer service standards, and compliance requirements.
•Help reinforce company policies, expectations, and service standards.
•Lead by example in professionalism, teamwork, and guest interaction.
Responsible Alcohol Service & Compliance
•Ensure all staff verify legal drinking age and follow responsible alcohol service guidelines.
•Monitor customer consumption and take appropriate action when necessary.
•Maintain compliance with all state and local alcohol regulations.
•Promote a safe environment for both guests and staff.
Customer Service & Guest Experience
•Provide exceptional customer service and create a welcoming atmosphere.
•Address customer concerns or complaints promptly and professionally.
•Support staff in delivering consistent, high-quality guest experiences.
•Engage with guests to build rapport and encourage repeat business.
Inventory & Operational Support
•Assist with tracking inventory levels and restocking bar supplies.
•Support ordering of beverages, garnishes, and supplies as needed.
•Monitor waste, shrinkage, and product usage.
•Ensure proper storage and handling of all products.
Administrative & POS Responsibilities
•Accurately process transactions using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
•Support cash handling procedures and daily reconciliation processes.
•Assist with scheduling support and shift coordination as needed.
•Maintain accurate records related to inventory, sales, and compliance.

Skills and Qualifications:
•Valid Bartender/Operator’s License (or ability to obtain).
•1–3 years of bartending experience required; leadership experience preferred.
•Strong knowledge of drink preparation and mixology techniques.
•Experience with POS systems and cash handling.
•Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
•Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
•High attention to detail and commitment to customer service.
Supervisory Responsibility:
•Provides day-to-day direction and support to bartender
•Support the general manager
•No formal direct reports unless assigned
Travel Requirements: No travel is expected for this position.
Work Environment: The Bartender position requires working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with frequent interactions with staff and customers. The position may require working in a noisy, high-traffic environment.
