This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Director, Business Systems/eCommerce Underwriting in the United States.
This role is a senior, cross-functional leadership position responsible for driving the success and performance of a digital underwriting platform. The Director will act as a critical bridge between underwriting, operations, and technology, translating complex commercial insurance workflows into clear functional specifications. This position oversees business analysis, quality assurance, production support, and API integration initiatives, ensuring a seamless digital underwriting experience, operational efficiency, and scalable growth. The Director will partner with internal stakeholders and distribution partners to prioritize enhancements, resolve production issues, and optimize user adoption. Additionally, they will monitor post-release performance, analyze operational metrics, and guide strategic improvements to support broker and internal users. Remote work is supported, with collaboration across multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Partner with underwriting, distribution, operations, and IT teams to gather, define, and document requirements for digital underwriting systems.
- Translate complex underwriting workflows, appetite rules, and referral logic into functional specifications.
- Lead user acceptance testing, ensuring enhancements improve underwriting efficiency, broker experience, and submission quality.
- Support IT in documenting, prioritizing, and resolving defects before system releases.
- Monitor post-release platform performance and proactively remediate issues.
- Serve as first-line business-side support for production issues, triaging problems impacting productivity or broker experience.
- Coordinate with IT, broker services, and external partners to resolve incidents and support API integrations for smooth adoption.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in business analysis, quality assurance, or systems roles within commercial insurance.
- Strong understanding of commercial insurance workflows, particularly excess casualty and specialty lines.
- Experience supporting digital platforms or broker portals.
- Familiarity with policy administration systems, API concepts (REST, JSON, data mapping, integration patterns), and rules engines.
- Knowledge of quality assurance methodologies and UX/UI considerations to improve broker adoption and efficiency.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and stakeholders in a fast-paced, remote environment.
