About This Position
Stonetrust Commercial Insurance Company is looking for an experienced Safety Operations Consultant in Nebraska.
Provides professional safety consulting services to prospective and existing policyholders with moderate supervision and guidance, in accordance with company standards and applicable federal and state regulations. Conducts site and virtual surveys, evaluates operational risks and controls, and delivers written safety recommendations with follow-up to support implementation. Analyzes loss data and operational information to assist policyholders and agents with safety planning, training, and loss reduction efforts. Collaborates with underwriting to support account evaluation, pricing considerations, and retention.
This position may be filled as a Senior Safety Operations Consultant depending on experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct virtual and on-site safety consultations to assess operations, identify hazards, and recommend practical improvements to reduce injuries and claim costs.
Develop written safety recommendations following consultations and support policyholders with implementation follow-up.
Assist underwriting by reviewing prospective accounts and providing safety input consistent with underwriting guidelines.
Prepare timely and accurate reports documenting operations, exposures, and recommended controls.
Analyze loss data to identify trends and contributing factors related to claim frequency and severity.
Support policyholders in developing and improving written safety programs and safe work practices.
Deliver and/or coordinate targeted safety training based on identified needs.
Communicate available safety services and resources to policyholders and agency partners.
Track activity, outcomes, and productivity metrics and report results to management.
Maintain compliance with company policies, departmental procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Bachelors degree preferred.
Three to five years of workers compensation safety consulting or related experience preferred.
Professional safety designation or certification (e.g., CSP) preferred.
Ability to meet required registration or licensing standards within assigned territory, if applicable.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Practical understanding of workers compensation insurance concepts, classifications, and loss drivers.
Functional understanding of applicable safety standards and regulations (e.g., OSHA, DOT, NFPA).
Ability to evaluate workplace risks and exposures and recommend appropriate controls.
Solid analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify loss trends.
Organized and self-motivated, with the ability to manage workload and priorities in a field-based role.
Effective written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and group presentations.
Ability to train, coach, and counsel policyholders and employees on safe work practices.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams.
Physical Requirements:
Frequent regional travel, including some overnight travel.
Must maintain a valid drivers license, acceptable driving record, and compliance with company driving policies.
Periodic exposure to active worksite environments requiring situational awareness and adherence to safety protocols.
Ability to navigate worksites, including climbing ladders or scaffolding and walking uneven terrain as needed.
Use of appropriate personal protective equipment as required by site conditions.
Ability to perform essential job functions safely and meet established performance and attendance expectations.
