About This Position

Boos & Associates is growing, we were recently named one of the Fastest Growing Accounting Firms and Businesses in the Fresno area by the Fresno Business Journal. That growth has led us to expand to different markets, and we are in need of a highly skilled Internal Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. This role is open to candidates located in Fresno, CA.

The Firm’s Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the firm’s internal accounting and financial reporting functions by preparing journal entries, maintaining general ledger accounts, assisting with month‑end close, and ensuring accurate financial records. This role works closely with the Senior Accountant and management to support accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, compliance, reporting, and operational efficiency.

What you will do:

  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and reclassifications
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts on a monthly basis
  • Assist with month‑end and year‑end close processes
  • Prepare bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Support preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and Cash Basis
  • Utilize accounting software, workflow tools, and AI‑enabled solutions to:
  • Automate routine accounting tasks
  • Improve accuracy of reconciliations and data entry
  • Identify anomalies, trends, or potential errors
    • Assist with accounts payable; process and enter vendor invoices with appropriate documentation and approvals
    • Support accounts receivable processing; assist in the preparation of customer invoices
    • Collect and review timesheets, and other relevant documents to calculate employee work hours and wages.
    • Support payroll entries and related reconciliations
    • Assist with payroll computations; verify payroll data for accuracy and resolve any discrepancies or issues promptly.
    • Assist with fixed asset accounting and depreciation schedules
    • Provide support for audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance
    • Identify and communicate discrepancies or process improvement opportunities
    • Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; OR three (3) or more years performing general accounting transactions and functions without a Bachelor’s degree, required

    Experience:

    • One (1) or more years of experience performing general accounting transactions and functions, required.

    Software:

    • Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word, required.
    • Experience utilizing industry standard accounting software

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong analytical and basic research skills
    • Ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details.
    • Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environment.
    • Proven ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Team player with an ability to interact effectively with staff of all level within the firm.
    • Ability to understand finance and accounting functions, technology for supporting these functions.
    • Recognizes opportunities for innovation, including improvements for handling day-to-day matters, and developing an understanding of process improvements. .
    • Ability to effectively guide a team of professionals and delegating work assignments as needed.

    Compensation Information: Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

Prior to founding the firm our Managing Director was a Tax Director with a Big 4 accounting firm with over 30 years public accounting experience.
