About This Position

Bio Med Tech: This 1.0 FTE/Full-time position is scheduled to work 10-HR day shifts and is AFSCME represented.

Compensation: Non-exempt, $34.45/HR - $51.25/HR

Job Summary:
Provides and documents, under supervision, preventative and corrective maintenance on biomedical equipment.

Job Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Performs biomedical equipment repairs and test on all new and repaired equipment prior to being put into service. All repairs and tests shall be documented.
  2. Performs scheduled inspections, maintenance and electrical safety tests of biomedical equipment to maintain code compliance. Responsible for documenting the results of all inspections, maintenance and tests.
  3. Monitors the inventory of biomedical equipment, parts and stand-by equipment to ensure minimum disruption of patient care.
  4. Assists in training of all hospital staff in the safe use of biomedical equipment.
  5. Monitors work performed by outside contractors to ensure requirements are met and results are documented properly.
  6. Provides technical support on new and replaced biomedical equipment.
  7. Responsible for keeping current on new developments in biomedical equipment and systems.
  8. Performs Inspections and performance testing of medical equipment in inventory.
  9. Perform risk assessments on all medical equipment and documents.
  10. Operates company vehicles to travel between district-approved locations for the purpose of maintaining facilities and performing related on-site duties.
  11. Other duties as assigned.


Required Education and Experience:

  1. Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  2. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  3. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  4. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  5. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  6. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  7. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
