POSITION: Warehouse Operations Supervisor

REPORTS TO: Materials Manager

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB AND CONTRIBUTION TO ORGANIZATION:

The Warehouse Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations within the warehouse, ensuring efficiency, safety, and accuracy in the storage, handling, and distribution of goods. This role involves managing a team of warehouse associates, coordinating workflows, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and company policies. The Warehouse Operations Supervisor plays a critical role in maintaining operational excellence, meeting deadlines, and optimizing warehouse productivity.

ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Supervision and Team Management:

  • Lead, train, and motivate a team of warehouse associates, ensuring high performance and adherence to company standards.
  • Assign daily tasks, monitor performance, and conduct regular performance evaluations.
  • Foster a positive work environment focused on teamwork, productivity, and continuous improvement.
  • Address employee concerns and resolve conflicts promptly.

Warehouse Operations Management:

  • Oversee daily operations, including receiving, stocking, order picking, packing, and shipping of products.
  • Ensure accurate and efficient processing of inventory, optimizing warehouse space and ensuring proper product storage.
  • Coordinate with other departments, such as inventory control, purchasing, and logistics, to ensure timely order fulfillment and smooth operations.
  • Monitor workflow to ensure that operations meet quality and efficiency standards.

Inventory Control and Accuracy:

  • Assist with inventory counts, cycle counts, and reconciliation of discrepancies between physical stock and system records.
  • Ensure accurate labeling, storage, and organization of products within the warehouse.
  • Implement inventory control best practices to minimize loss and improve stock accuracy.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies, including proper handling of materials and equipment.
  • Conduct regular safety training sessions for warehouse staff and ensure the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Identify and address safety hazards and enforce adherence to health and safety standards to reduce accidents and injuries.
  • Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment.

Process Improvement:

  • Analyze and assess warehouse processes to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Implement process improvements and best practices to enhance productivity and streamline operations.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as order accuracy, shipping speed, and inventory turnover, and work with the team to meet operational goals.

Equipment and Facility Management:

  • Ensure proper maintenance and operation of warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and conveyor systems.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance team to schedule regular equipment inspections and repairs.
  • Manage warehouse layout and storage configurations to optimize space utilization and workflow.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of warehouse activities, including inventory levels, shipping and receiving logs, and employee performance.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on warehouse performance, inventory status, and operational challenges to upper management.
  • Ensure documentation is in compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred).
  2. 3-5 years of experience in warehouse operations, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  3. Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  4. Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory control processes, and logistics operations.
  5. Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  6. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  7. Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  8. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) and warehouse management software.
  9. Forklift certification (preferred).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the functions of this position the employee is regularly required to stand for an extended amount of time, walk, and reach with hands and arms. Able to lift and move up to 50 Lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
