Pomeroy College of Nursing at Crouse Hospital is currently hiring a full-time Nursing Skills Lab Coordinator. The Nursing Skills Lab Coordinator will oversee the daily operations of the nursing skills lab, in collaboration with the Associate Dean, Simulation and Technology Coordinator and course faculty, to ensure a high-quality, well-organized experiential learning environment.
Pay Range: $95,000 - $105,000 / year
Schedule: Full-Time, Day/Evenings
Nursing Skills Lab Coordinator Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the day-to-day activities of the nursing lab, including scheduling of all learning activities and skill validations.
- Uses information technologies skillfully to support the teaching-learning process.
- Demonstrates evidence-based teaching practices.
- Supervises student lab activities outside of scheduled class times, including scheduling, teaching, evaluating skill demonstrations, overseeing supervised practice and providing skills remediation.
- Maintains an organized, safe, and fully functional lab environment by managing inventory; acquiring durable and disposable equipment and supplies within budget; and reporting equipment issues as needed.
- Create a safe learning environment in the skills lab to promote learning.
- Assists with scheduled student skills remediation sessions and supports the development of metrics, assessments, and other tools to enhance lab and program effectiveness.
- Coordinates the ordering and re-supply of consumable lab equipment within the established budget.
- Serve as a resource for faculty and students in any matters related to the skills lab.
- Assist with planning faculty needs for the lab in collaboration with the Associate Dean.
- Orient and mentor new lab faculty.
- Continually evaluate current clinical literature regarding best practices for lab skills.
- Serve as a liaison with area health care facilities regarding practice policy changes that impact lab environment and the psychomotor development of students.
- Limited clinical assignment.
- The faculty member must demonstrate evidence of course development, assessment of student learning, and teaching methods that foster the transfer of knowledge and skills to students.
- Demonstrates knowledge of curriculum development including identifying course outcomes, developing competency statements, writing learning objectives and selecting appropriate learning activities and evaluation strategies.
- Assist with simulation as needed.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Nursing
- Currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
- Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) at the time of hire or within six (6) weeks after hire.
- Minimum of three (3) years of full-time or its equivalent in clinical nursing experience in the assigned area of responsibility.
