Job Summary: Juice Bar/Cut Fruit Clerks are responsible for ensuring the Juice Bar and Packaged Cut Fruit are prepared and well-stocked for our customers. S/he must assist in safely cutting and preparing fruits and vegetables for the produce department packages, other departments and for the Juice Bar while guaranteeing proper use of quality product. S/he must be familiar and very helpful and knowledgeable of nutrition, diet trends, vegan/vegetarian and store products. S/he must know the store and location of products in order to assist customers in locating items as the Juice is typically located in the entrance of the store. As a PFM team member is able to exemplify Pete's Four Pillars of Value, Aesthetic, Quality, and Customer Service.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Acknowledge and greet all customers with fast, friendly, personalized service that develops rapport.
  • Must be comfortable with up-selling and suggestive selling techniques.
  • Perform produce duties such as safely cutting, packaging wrapping, juicing, bottling/packaging (dated/labeled) and clean-up of product and equipment used.
  • Clean and sanitize work areas, utensils, equipment, service stations and eating area.
  • Must ensure all service standards are frequently met and often exceed company expectations.
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
  • They must possess the knowledge and training of how to effectively handle a knife for the purpose of cutting and maximizing the use of produce products.
  • Rotate and monitor for the expiration dates on product and signs, stocking and facing products in their department, build product displays, and handle product damages and credits according to company policy.
  • Responsible for completing all stocking and clean-up duties in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by routinely cleaning the bar area, floor, windows and grinders, and taking out trash.
  • Assist with the actual store operation activities such as cleaning, hanging signs, depending upon business needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Certifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalency with at least 3-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of department functions.
  • Possesses a current Food Handler Certificate or able to obtain upon employment.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must be capable of providing and modeling exceptional customer service.
  • Must have excellent communication skills in order to communicate effectively with customers, store leadership, and fellow-team members.
  • Must be detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently or in groups.

Work Environment/ Physical Demands

  • Must have the physical ability to stand for extended periods of time, bend, climb, balance, stoop to grasp objects, kneel, crouch, crawl, frequently push/pull up to 100 lbs., frequently lift and/or move loads up to 50 lbs., and occasionally lift 75 lbs.
  • Ability to enter the coolers and freezers thereby being subjected to and withstanding frequent temperature changes for extended periods of time.
  • Occasional high stress when dealing with systems/customers/staff.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule with various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as determined by the store/business needs and as required to ensure adequate store staffing.
  • Must have reliable source of transportation.
  • The ability to be reached during/after work hours.

Starting hourly rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and will vary based on things like location, experience, and qualifications. All positions are eligible for Overtime, and some positions will have guaranteed Overtime available.

Hourly rate for Suburban Stores is $15-$18

Hourly rate for City of Chicago Stores is $16.60-$18
