Our firm operates through seven regional offices and works with major transportation users and property owners ranging from large institutional investors to private owners.

Our Central Region team is seeking a motivated Real Estate Research & Business Intelligence Intern for Spring 2027. This internship provides hands-on exposure to commercial real estate, with a focus on industrial and logistics properties. The intern will support property research, market data collection, database maintenance, comparable research, marketing, and other real estate-related projects while exploring new avenues for data collection and research, including the use of artificial intelligence.

Internship Objectives:

Through this internship, the intern will:

  • Gain an understanding of the commercial real estate industry, the role of a professional real estate agent, and the day-to-day activities of commercial real estate brokers.
  • Learn how research, market data, property information, and comparable transactions are used to support real estate decisions.
  • Develop proficiency in real estate research and analysis using the Burr & Temkin database, CoStar/LoopNet/Crexi, and county and city property databases.
  • Develop practical experience with commercial real estate marketing, including property brochures, monthly property catalogs, email marketing, and other marketing channels.
  • Develop business skills in communication, technology, quantitative reasoning, organization, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

Real Estate Research & Analysis

  • Research commercial and industrial properties and identify property types, including land, drop yards, shops, final-mile facilities, warehouses, LTL, and TL properties.

  • Research and compile sale and lease comparable information, including seller/landlord, buyer/tenant, closing and commencement dates, pricing, and other relevant details.
  • Assist with special research projects and market data requests as assigned.
  • Assist on Market Surveys and accompany site visits if necessary.
  • Track real estate market activity, including new developments, acquisitions, leases, sales and company expansions.

Database & Data Management

  • Enter and update property and transaction information in the Burr & Temkin database using information obtained from brochures, CoStar, county records, city records, and other approved sources.
  • Search existing records before creating new records to help prevent duplicate property records.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate property, ownership, contact, and transaction information.

  • Assist team members with administrative, research, and special projects as assigned.
  • Prepare and organize information for meetings, presentations, reports, and client materials.
