Overview

The Senior Specialist, Content Production, transforms SHRM’s research findings, event insights, and executive commentary into audience-centric content across multiple platforms. This role bridges the gap between data and storytelling — crafting concise, high-performing messages that support organizational priorities, inspire audience engagement, and drive revenue, registration, and membership goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Content Creation: Identify key takeaways from reports, case studies, articles, data briefs, events, and other SHRM initiatives and shape them into digestible, channel-ready content assets: videos, infographics, web copy, social posts, and other interactive formats.
  • Podcast Development: Produce video-first podcast episodes for one of SHRM’s flagship content series — from topic ideation, guest booking, and run-of-show scriptwriting to editing, publishing, and promotion.
  • Content Optimization: Tailor voice and tone to each channel and audience, testing new formats and data-led variations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Participate in collaborative efforts with colleagues in design, multimedia, and operations as well as with other departments and external partners to ensure a unified approach to content development, audience engagement, project deadlines, and quality standards.
  • Content Innovation: Contribute fresh ideas for compelling, audience-centric content that highlights SHRM research and products, pilot new content types, and stay updated on new media technologies to make adoption recommendations.
  • Project Management: Shepherd content projects from initiation to completion by creating and coordinating workflows, monitoring progress, facilitating communication among contributors, and ensuring timely delivery of assets.
  • Performance Measurement: Evaluate content performance, leveraging data to propose and execute methods for increasing audience engagement and expanding reach.
  • Mentorship: Support junior creators through peer review and best-practice guidance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of content writing or storytelling experience in B2B or mission-driven organizations, combined with a solid understanding of content marketing and audience engagement strategies.
  • Comfortable working with research and data to extract narrative insight, demonstrating an exceptional ability to distill complex ideas into clear, engaging language.
  • Fluency in digital media tools and content/project management systems (Adobe Experience Manager, Monday.com, YouTube Studio, SharePoint, etc.), along with platform best practices and social algorithms.
  • Skilled with generative AI for content ideation, summarization, editing, visual prompting, streamlining workflows, enhancing productivity, and improving overall work quality.
  • Strong collaborative skills; able to build relationships and work effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to see the bigger picture and drive content initiatives that align with organizational goals.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines, manage multiple projects effectively, and adapt to changing priorities.

Additional Notes

  • Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodation.
  • Work is generally done sitting, talking, hearing, and typing. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
