Build Relationships. Win New Business. Drive Growth.

Superior Rigging & Erecting is seeking an experienced, results-driven Business Development Manager to identify new opportunities, develop customer relationships, and drive profitable revenue growth throughout the Atlanta market.

We are looking for a true new-business hunter. Someone who takes initiative, consistently prospects for new customers, opens doors with decision-makers, and knows how to turn opportunities into awarded projects.

This is not primarily an account management position. We need a professional who is comfortable generating business independently, developing a territory, and taking ownership of the sales process from initial prospecting through closing.

The ideal candidate brings a proven track record in business-to-business sales, preferably within construction, crane and rigging, heavy transport, industrial services, equipment rental, or related industries.

About Superior Rigging & Erecting

Since 1952, Superior Rigging & Erecting has delivered complex crane, rigging, machinery moving, heavy transport, structural steel erection, fabrication, and specialty construction solutions.

We support commercial, industrial, manufacturing, and infrastructure projects throughout the Southeast and beyond. Our reputation is built on technical expertise, quality execution, responsive service, and an uncompromising commitment to safety.

At Superior Rigging & Erecting, we make the Tough Look Easy.

About This Opportunity

This position is designed for a business development professional who thrives on identifying opportunities, building new relationships, and winning business.

You will develop relationships with general contractors, industrial facilities, manufacturers, construction managers, and other organizations requiring specialized lifting, rigging, transportation, and construction services.

You will have the support of experienced estimating, engineering, operations, and project management teams while taking direct responsibility for developing new business within your assigned territory.

This is an individual contributor position focused on sales production, customer acquisition, and profitable growth.

Position Summary

The Business Development Manager is responsible for developing and executing strategies to generate new customers, expand market opportunities, and increase profitable revenue.

The position requires consistent outbound prospecting, relationship development, opportunity qualification, proposal coordination, negotiation, and closing.

Success will be measured by new customer acquisition, self-generated sales opportunities, qualified pipeline development, awarded revenue, and gross margin performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify, prospect, and secure new business opportunities within assigned markets and territories.
  • Proactively generate leads through cold calling, direct outreach, networking, referrals, jobsite visits, and industry relationships.
  • Develop relationships with general contractors, industrial customers, manufacturers, construction managers, facility operators, and other key decision-makers.
  • Build and maintain a qualified pipeline of self-generated sales opportunities.
  • Develop and execute territory-specific business development strategies focused on customer acquisition and revenue growth.
  • Conduct customer meetings, project discussions, and jobsite visits to identify needs and develop potential solutions.
  • Work closely with estimating, engineering, operations, and project management to prepare competitive proposals and accurately define project requirements.
  • Manage the complete sales cycle, including prospecting, qualification, proposal development, negotiation, and closing.
  • Identify opportunities across company service lines, including crane operations, rigging, machinery moving, heavy transport, structural steel erection, and fabrication.
  • Develop relationships with new customers while identifying opportunities for repeat business and long-term partnerships.
  • Maintain accurate prospect information, customer activity, opportunity status, pipeline forecasts, and sales results within the company's customer relationship management system.
  • Monitor construction activity, industrial expansion, capital projects, competitor activity, and market developments to identify potential opportunities.
  • Meet or exceed established expectations for prospecting activity, qualified opportunities, new customer acquisition, revenue generation, and profitability.
  • Coordinate the transition of awarded projects to operations and project management to support successful execution and customer satisfaction.
  • Represent Superior Rigging & Erecting professionally while maintaining a commitment to safety, customer service, and operational excellence
Requirements:
  • Experience selling crane and rigging, machinery moving, heavy transport, structural steel, industrial construction, equipment rental, or related services.
  • Established relationships within the commercial construction, industrial, manufacturing, or specialty contracting markets.
  • Experience selling project-based services requiring technical coordination, estimating, and proposal development.
  • Demonstrated success developing a new territory, opening new accounts, or expanding into previously untapped markets.
  • Familiarity with construction bidding, project procurement, contract negotiations, and gross margin management.
  • Experience working with general contractors, industrial facilities, equipment manufacturers, and engineering or construction management firms.
Work Requirements
  • Position based in Atlanta, Georgia, with regular travel throughout the assigned territory.
  • Frequent visits to prospective customers, active jobsites, industrial facilities, and construction offices.
  • Ability to work independently in a field-based sales environment while maintaining regular communication with company leadership and operations.
  • Flexibility to accommodate customer meetings, project requirements, and business development opportunities.
  • Ability to comply with company and customer safety requirements when visiting active construction and industrial sites.
