This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Director, Epidemiology in United States.

This role is a key scientific leadership position focused on generating high-quality epidemiologic and real-world evidence to support oncology drug development and lifecycle strategy. You will play a central role in shaping epidemiology plans across clinical development, safety, regulatory, and medical affairs, ensuring that robust population-level insights inform decision-making at every stage. Working in a highly matrixed, cross-functional environment, you will collaborate closely with global patient safety and development teams to contextualize safety signals and strengthen benefit-risk assessments. The role involves leading the design and execution of complex epidemiology studies, including natural history research, comparative effectiveness analyses, and post-approval safety evaluations. You will also contribute to scientific dissemination through publications, abstracts, and regulatory-facing documentation. This is a high-impact opportunity to directly influence oncology innovation and improve outcomes for patients with serious diseases.

Accountabilities:

You will be responsible for leading the execution of epidemiology strategy across assigned assets, ensuring the delivery of high-quality scientific evidence that supports clinical, regulatory, and commercial objectives. You will drive study design, evidence generation, and cross-functional integration of epidemiologic insights.

  • Lead execution of epidemiology strategy and study plans across assigned products and indications
  • Design and oversee epidemiology deliverables including natural history studies, SLRs, comparative effectiveness, and safety studies
  • Provide epidemiology input into clinical development, regulatory submissions, medical affairs, and commercial strategies
  • Collaborate with Global Patient Safety to assess and contextualize potential safety signals and benefit-risk profiles
  • Author and oversee protocols, statistical analysis plans, study reports, abstracts, posters, and manuscripts
  • Evaluate and synthesize epidemiology and real-world evidence literature and regulatory guidance
  • Ensure epidemiologic rigor is incorporated into clinical trial design, SAPs, and regulatory documents
  • Manage or oversee external vendors, contractors, and cross-functional contributors to ensure high-quality execution
  • Contribute to scientific dissemination through publications and conference presentations
Requirements:

This role requires deep expertise in epidemiology or pharmacoepidemiology, combined with extensive experience in oncology drug development within a pharmaceutical or biotech environment. The ideal candidate brings strong scientific rigor, analytical capability, and the ability to influence across matrixed teams.

  • PhD, DrPH, DSc, or equivalent advanced degree in epidemiology or related discipline
  • 10+ years of industry experience in epidemiology, preferably within a pharmaceutical or biotech sponsor organization
  • Strong expertise in pharmacoepidemiologic methods and real-world oncology data sources
  • Solid understanding of biostatistical methods and observational study design
  • Experience contributing to clinical development, safety, regulatory, or medical affairs programs
  • Strong scientific writing skills, including publications, abstracts, and regulatory documentation
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to work in matrix teams
  • High attention to detail, scientific rigor, and quality standards
Benefits:
  • Competitive base salary ranging from $211,000 to $264,000 USD
  • Equity-based compensation and long-term incentive opportunities
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage
  • Retirement savings plan and financial wellbeing support
  • Generous paid time off and parental leave policies
  • Strong focus on learning, development, and career growth opportunities
  • Exposure to cutting-edge oncology research and global epidemiology programs
  • Inclusive, equal opportunity workplace environment
