About This Position

KAIROS, Inc is searching for an energetic, experienced, and highly motivated Software Developer, Junior, to join our team. This position will onsite in St. Inigoes, MD.

Established in July 2013, KAIROS, Inc. is a growing Woman Owned Small Business (WOSB) specializing in Life Cycle Program Management, Engineering, Cybersecurity, Logistics and Sustainment, Enterprise Platforms and AI, and Additive Manufacturing services focused on optimizing customers’ program performance and mission through proven methodologies and ethical practices. This position performs research, design, and develops computer and network software or specialized utility programs.

Primary Duties:
  • Analyze user needs and develop software solutions, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.
  • Update software or enhance existing software capabilities.
  • As required, work with computer hardware engineers to integrate hardware and software systems and develop specifications and performance requirements.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Write and maintain C++ code, including knowledge of
    • Data structures
    • Developing multi-threaded applications
    • Memory management
    • Object-Oriented Programming
    • Real-Time Systems
  • Experience using version control tools such as Git
  • Familiarity with Bash and the Linux command line
  • Ability to perform tasks under the guidance of journeyman and senior engineers, programmers, and managers as a valuable, contributing member of the team.
  • Strong customer relations, analytics, and documentation skills.
  • Self-starter, highly motivated, strong work ethic with a commitment to quality.
  • Microsoft office proficiency.
  • Ability to work within a challenging, fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to multi-task and meet competing, deliverable deadlines
  • Detail oriented
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to provide clear status and/or communicate issues
  • Ability to adapt to evolving technology
Preferred Skills and Experience (Not Required):
  • Contributed to a software development team by participating in code reviews, pair programming, and writing technical documentation.
  • Collaborated within a Scrum and Agile framework
  • Ability to develop CMake scripts to manage code compilation and installation
  • Experience developing using PCIe protocols to support the creation and development of software interfaces for hardware peripherals

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Software Engineering, Computer Science or other Technical discipline
Clearance:
This position is subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. In order to complete the requirements for government security clearance investigation you must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to complete the full background investigation. This position requires an Active Secret Security Clearance.

Compensation:
While skills, education, and experience are key factors, they are not the sole determinants of salary. Other determining factors include but are not limited to location, contract budgets and requirements, and government labor category guidelines. The estimated salary range for this position is $70,000 to $75,000. KAIROS also provides a comprehensive benefits package as additional employee compensation.
