HOURS & SALARY: Full-time, 38 hours per week, with a hiring range of $19.00 – $23.75 per hour depending on experience.

JOB SUMMARY
The Outreach & Engagement Specialist takes the library beyond its walls, connecting people to programs, services, and resources where they live, learn, and gather. This role supports meaningful engagement across all ages—from early literacy and family outreach to adult workshops, training, and special events. By building strong community partnerships and representing the library across the region, the Specialist ensures services are welcoming, inclusive, and responsive to local needs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide outreach services that connect community members of all ages to library resources, programs, and services.
2. Plan, deliver, and support outreach programs, including early childhood literacy, youth, adult, and community partner programming.
3. Represent the library at community events, partner sites, schools, and local organizations as a library ambassador.
4. Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners and organizations to advance outreach goals.
5. Assist with the planning and execution of special events, outreach initiatives, and community-wide programs.
6. Prepare, transport, set up, and break down outreach materials, supplies, and equipment as needed.
7. Support outreach operations through public service assistance, basic data tracking and reporting, and compliance with patron confidentiality requirements.
8. Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
· Associate’s degree and 1 year of relevant experience; or
· The equivalent combination of education and experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· 2+ years of relevant experience
· Proficiency or fluency in the Spanish language
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
· Strong customer service skills with the ability to work with diverse populations.
· Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person, in writing, and in group settings.
· Working knowledge of basic computer software and technology.
· Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks and priorities.
· Ability to build positive relationships with community partners and patrons.
· Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and off-site locations as required.
· Ability to speak, read, comprehend, and write the English language.
· Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.

WORK SCHEDULE
Work schedule will predominantly be normal business hours Monday through Friday but consists of weekend and evening hours as well. Anyone who works for the library must be willing to work anytime the library is open. Laramie County Library (Cheyenne) open hours are Monday – Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday 10:00 a.m.to 5:00 p.m. All employees are scheduled to attend monthly staff meetings and in-service days in Cheyenne.

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The essential duties and responsibilities of this job require the employee to move or manipulate moderately heavy equipment, boxes, carts, files, and/or stacks of materials from one location to another.
