About This Position

Job Summary: The System Engineer III handles the highest levels of support problems, projects and assignments. They possess and demonstrate expertise and experience beyond the junior staff members of the team. They are considered the Subject Matter Expert and are responsible for technologies and infrastructure for WMC Data Centers, Servers, Cloud and other Storage Systems, Databases, and related technologies. The System Engineer III partners with WMC Security teams and applies, maintains and oversees elevated levels of protection against cyber, criminal, and physical threats to the data center and systems. On-going operational oversight and support of the infrastructure requires that they measure utilization and performance and respond to emergent needs, projects, or problems. Proactive and reactive operational duties must be met to ensure that the hospital and community are fully operational and are adhering to established storage and process protocols. These duties include hardware installation and configuration, database, storage systems, operating system, data center environment, security, and software. The System Engineer III performs high level troubleshooting tasks using established tools and protocols. They will ensure that asset management, configuration and security standards are met. The System Engineer III is responsible for ensuring that all necessary and required software and hardware updates have been applied and thoroughly tested and verified. They will troubleshoot issues and verify system availability and performance. The System Engineer III will coordinate and collaborate with other WMC IT Teams in support of system access, project rollouts, problem resolution, and end user support. They serve as team leaders, when needed, to maintain continuity of service.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, support and Lead team on all basic and advanced (Tier III) levels of technical and operational support to WMC Data Centers and infrastructure, including Servers, Data Bases, Cloud and other Data Storage systems.
  • Perform advanced computer hardware installations and decommission enterprise equipment, including servers, peripheral equipment, databases, storage systems, as necessary.
  • Ensure that the Data Center and all-encompassing technologies are protected against cyber, criminal and physical attack.

Handle routine and complex equipment / system configurations following hospital approved protocols and standards.

  • Troubleshoot advanced issues and repair of equipment under their purview and in support of WMC hospital operations.
  • Render support to other IT teams in support of end users as necessary for system availability.
  • Participate in project implementation assignments. Expand infrastructure to accommodate both incremental and large-scale projects.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other WMC departments and IT Teams in support of site and infrastructure readiness, problem resolution.
  • Assist and work alongside more senior members of the team to learn and assist with the handling of advanced technical problems, projects and problem solving.
  • Execute routine projects independently; work with manager on planning and executing larger local projects.
  • Perform asset management duties as defined by WMC.
  • Adhere to all WMC security protocols and standards.
  • Serve as Team Leader, as needed, to provide continuity of service

Qualifications/Requirements:

Experience:

  • 6 years of experience supporting information systems and/or in system engineering, required.
  • Experience in healthcare technology support, including Server, Database, Cloud based and other Storage systems, required.
  • Experience with device management/integration, preferred.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, science or related, required.
  • Master’s degree, preferred.

Other: Candidate must possess a knowledge of Data Center operations and infrastructure, computer technologies including Servers, Data Bases, Cloud, other storage devices, and related technologies and applications. They require an ability to work well with medical professionals; possess an ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to effectively use computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail and database software in performing work assignments; good judgment; initiative; accuracy; thoroughness; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
