Position Summary
The Senior Accountant – Accounts Receivable is responsible for managing the full cycle of receivables, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing, collections, and revenue recognition. This role serves as a subject matter expert within the AR function and plays a key part in month-end close, financial reporting, and process improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Receivable Management
  • Oversee the end-to-end AR process, including invoice generation, payment application, and account reconciliation
  • Monitor aging reports and proactively manage collections to minimize past-due balances
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, short payments, and customer disputes in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate customer account records and ensure proper documentation of all transactions
  • Reconcile AR subledger to general ledger and 3PL AR reports to ensure accuracy and resolve variances

Month-End Close & Reporting
  • Prepare and post AR-related journal entries, including revenue accruals and bad debt provisions
  • Generate and distribute AR aging, DSO (Days Sales Outstanding), and cash flow reports to management
  • Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

Collections & Cash Application
  • Communicate with customers and internal stakeholders regarding outstanding balances and payment terms
  • Apply incoming payments accurately to the correct accounts and invoices
  • Identify delinquent accounts and escalate as appropriate per company policy

Process Improvement & Compliance
  • Identify inefficiencies in the AR workflow and recommend or implement process improvements
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, GAAP, and company policies
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing schedules, documentation, and analysis
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior AR staff

Qualifications

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience with a strong focus on accounts receivable
  • 3PL experience preferred
  • Prior experience in a senior or lead AR role preferred

Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Dynamics 365)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data analysis)
  • Familiarity with revenue recognition standards (ASC 606) a plus
  • Strong comprehension of internal control and technical accounting

Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred
  • Experience in [industry, e.g., manufacturing, SaaS, healthcare] a plus
  • Knowledge of credit and collections best practices

The expected salary range for this position based on greater Boston, MA location is $110,000-$125,000. Actual salary pay will be based on multiple factors, including geographic location, experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
