Job Description
Job Title: Medical Assistant- Oncology
Location: Carroll Hospital
Employment Type: Full-Time (M-F, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM) Overview:
Carroll Hospital is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our Oncology team. This full-time position plays a crucial role in supporting the physician's office practice and delivering top-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to ensuring a smooth and efficient office environment. Key Responsibilities: Perform clerical duties to support physician office operations. Obtain pre-certification from health care insurers or managed care providers for various treatment modalities. Assist with chart preparation, ensuring that test results, documents, and forms are current, organized, and complete before patient visits. Attach and file lab reports, imaging reports, operative and pathology reports, and discharge summaries after physician review. Reconcile lab results, ensuring all reports are received and reviewed by the physician promptly. Handle phone/fax prescription requests as directed by the physician. Schedule patient appointments and perform registration and check-in/check-out functions. Verify insurance eligibility, ensure all necessary paperwork is completed, and enter charges accurately. Order and maintain medical supplies for the office, ensuring an adequate inventory to avoid disruption of care. Assist with clinical duties, including preparing rooms, assisting the physician during exams, and ensuring all instruments and supplies are available and not expired. Record patient health history, vital signs (pulse, blood pressure, weight, height, and temperature), and assist with patient exams. Prepare treatment rooms and assist with specimen collection and pathology requisitions. Requirements: Medical Assistant Certification or Patient Care Tech cetification required. American Heart Association BLS Certification (required) Minimum of 2 years of Medical Assistant experience preferred. Strong organizational and multitasking skills. Ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with patients and staff.
