Working Title:
Social Hour Coordinator
Position Summary:
To serve as the International Student Activities Coordinatorfor the Global Education Office (GEO). This person will be the primary point ofcontact for social events and activities for international students andscholars. This person should be energetic, motivated, self-starter, outgoingand highly organized.
Under the supervision of a GEO staff member, this positionwill be responsible for coordinating social events for international studentsand scholars including bi-weekly Social Hour events, up-keep of the onlineevent calendar, coordinate performances for the annual UNM InternationalFestival, plan and report on various cultural trips throughout the year.
Tasks include driving the GEO van and co-planning andchaperoning overnight trips, regular event preparation activities such asreserving venues, getting estimates and communicating with service providers ina timely manner, shopping and running errands off campus for the purpose ofset-up and take-down of various programs to be held both on and off campus.
The student must enjoy working with a diverse internationalcommunity; international experience is a plus but not required.

Position Requirements:
- Must have a U.S. driver's license and US driving experience of at least 12 months.
- Reliable, consistent, adaptable and proactive to ensure proper follow-up/ follow-through in event planning and implementation.
- Outstanding customer service.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing.
- Must be an organized, self-starter that can work independently with limited supervision.
- Open-minded and flexible, capable of creating an inclusive and safe environment for students of diverse backgrounds.
- Must maintain a regular work schedule as much as permissible by program operations.
- Comfortable with public speaking.
- Must be available to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends as required by program operations.
- Position requires handling of average-weight objectsup to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours perday.
