SUMMARY:

The Cook is responsible for performing a variety of duties, including, but not limited to, hands on preparation, cooking and serving of all foods for the patients, cafeteria, and doctors’ dining room and catering events. Participate as part of the production team and supports our mission by providing safe, therapeutic and innovative food to our patients, cafeteria, and catering services.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education: High school diploma or equivalent or minimum score of Bronze on the Career Readiness Certification (“CRC”) certificate preferred.

Experience: Minimum six (6) months’ work experience preferred.

Certifications: Certificate of Achievement in Employee Food Safety by ServSafe or achieve within 6 months from date of hire.

Must be able to occasionally distinguish between sweet and bitter flavors to ensure food quality. Ability to stand and walk up to, or exceeding 8 hours per shift. Ability to bend, squat and twist, and frequently lift and move up to 30 pounds with proper body mechanics. Spend up to two hours or more in front of computer, monitor or similar screen utilizing keyboard and/or mouse, daily. Ability to multi-task in a fast pace environment. Must be able to handle critical and highly stressful situations with efficiency and composure.

Kitchen setting, within a hospital environment

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a position in a hospital setting which is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Production staff: 7 days a week, 8, 10, or 12 hour shifts. Must be available to work a variety of hours, days and shifts, including weekends and increased work schedules. May be required to work during inclement weather, emergency (Code yellow), and holidays.
