Role Overview

We are seeking a Design Lead — a hands-on, user-experience-focused design leader who will guide how UX and UI come to life across Teifi Digital’s unified commerce solutions.


This role is a blend of UX strategy, design execution, and team mentorship. You’ll help shape the design vision for Teifi Digital, support and guide multidisciplinary designers, and partner closely with the Shopify Practice Lead and Delivery teams to ensure UX is embedded seamlessly into every project phase.


You’ll champion user-centered design thinking — from research and conceptual exploration through wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs — helping create experiences that are intuitive, accessible, scalable, and optimized for conversion.


Key Responsibilities

Creative & Design LeadershipContribute to defining and evolving Teifi Digital’s design vision across Shopify and e-commerce projects, with a strong focus on UX best practices.Lead design execution from discovery to delivery — ensuring every experience aligns with user needs, client goals, and best-in-class UX/UI standards.Mentor and guide a multidisciplinary team (UX, UI, visual, interaction).Collaborate on the commercial structure of design work and how we sell and quote design work. Work with the sales team to price design engagements. Maintain and grow design systems, frameworks, and component libraries that support scalability and consistency across projects.Collaborate with the Shopify Practice Lead to ensure design concepts align with technical feasibility and platform constraints.Partner with the Director of Delivery to strengthen design workflows, briefs, and QA processes.Foster a culture of thoughtful, user-focused creativity while upholding design quality and delivery timelines.Strategy & CollaborationTranslate business objectives, user insights, and analytics into clear UX strategies and design directions.Participate in client workshops, presentations, and pitches — effectively communicating design rationale and user experience principles.Work with the Director of Operations and project managers to resource design projects effectively and ensure alignment across teams.Partner cross-functionally with content, engineering, and delivery teams to ensure cohesive, seamless end-to-end experiences.Help drive thought leadership in commerce UX, usability, and Shopify experience optimization.Design Systems & Quality StandardsSupport the development and evolution of Teifi Digital’s internal design system and UX/UI standards.Champion accessibility, usability, and conversion-driven design practices across all client work.Facilitate structured design critiques, feedback loops, and review sessions to elevate design quality.Stay current on emerging design tools, UX research methods, interaction patterns, and e-commerce trends — integrating them into design workflows when appropriate.Qualifications

6–10 years of experience in digital design, UX/UI, or product/agency environments.Strong understanding of commerce UX principles, including information architecture, interaction design, and user flows (Shopify Plus experience strongly preferred).Proven experience guiding designers and contributing to team development in a fast-paced environment.A strong portfolio showcasing UX process, UI craft, and problem-solving across multiple brands or platforms.Experience contributing to or managing design systems and scalable component libraries.Excellent communication and collaboration skills — able to articulate design decisions clearly to stakeholders and clients.Proficiency in Figma and familiarity with modern design and prototyping tools (Adobe Creative Suite, FigJam, etc.).Comfortable participating in client presentations and explaining UX rationale.Passion for creating clean, intuitive, accessible, and performance-focused user experiences.

The pay range for this role is:
110,000 - 140,000 CAD per year(Vancouver)
