Director Medical Communications Lead, Neuroscience

This strategic leadership role offers the opportunity to shape how scientific information is communicated across the neuroscience landscape, supporting both product launches and long-term lifecycle strategies. The position sits at the intersection of Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Regulatory, and Commercial functions, driving the creation of clear, compliant, and impactful scientific narratives. You will oversee high-visibility medical communication initiatives including publications, congress activities, educational content, and scientific engagement programs. Working in a highly collaborative and matrixed environment, you’ll partner with internal experts, external agencies, and key opinion leaders to ensure scientific excellence and consistency across all channels. This role is ideal for a seasoned medical communications professional passionate about translating complex science into meaningful healthcare impact while mentoring and guiding high-performing teams in a remote-first setting.

Accountabilities:
  • Develop and execute comprehensive US medical communications strategies supporting neuroscience product launches, lifecycle initiatives, and scientific engagement activities.
  • Lead publication planning activities, including scientific manuscripts, abstracts, posters, congress presentations, and communication plans aligned with therapeutic objectives.
  • Create and maintain core scientific narratives and communication platforms to ensure consistency, accuracy, and strategic alignment across all medical content.
  • Oversee the development of medical education materials, digital content, symposia assets, MSL tools, and scientific congress communications.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Clinical Development, and Commercial teams to align messaging and communication priorities.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for content development initiatives, coordinating effectively with internal stakeholders and external scientific agencies.
  • Ensure all materials adhere to publication standards, regulatory requirements, and industry guidelines including GPP and ICMJE standards.
  • Lead, mentor, and support medical writers and communications professionals to ensure high-quality execution, compliance, and timely delivery of projects.
Requirements:
  • Advanced degree in life sciences, pharmacy, medicine, or a related field (PhD, PharmD, or MD preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
  • Strong background in medical communications, scientific publications, congress planning, or Medical Affairs strategy.
  • Proven expertise in translating complex scientific data into clear, compelling, and compliant medical content.
  • Deep understanding of clinical research, publication planning, healthcare regulations, and scientific communication best practices.
  • Experience working within matrixed organizations and managing multiple cross-functional stakeholders and priorities.
  • Therapeutic expertise in neuroscience or rare diseases is highly preferred.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and project management skills with the ability to influence across teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with experience mentoring communication or medical affairs professionals.
