Job Description

Snior Data Engineer - Governana

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Sênior Data Engineer - Governança in Brazil.

In this senior engineering role, you will act as a key architect of modern data platforms, shaping scalable, secure, and high-performance data environments that support critical business decisions. You will design and evolve data lake and lakehouse architectures, ensuring data is reliable, well-governed, and accessible across the organization. Working in a highly technical and collaborative environment, you will partner with cloud, analytics, and platform teams to solve complex data challenges at scale. Your work will directly influence data quality, governance standards, and infrastructure efficiency across multiple systems. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on deep technical ownership, cloud-native design, and solving performance-critical data problems. You will also play a strategic role in incident resolution, optimization, and long-term data architecture evolution.

Accountabilities

You will be responsible for defining and evolving scalable data architectures, ensuring robust governance, performance, and reliability across large-scale data ecosystems:

  • Design and propose end-to-end data pipeline architectures (e.g., Lambda, Kappa, ETL, streaming or scraping-based solutions), aligned with business and technical requirements.
  • Define and implement modern data lake and lakehouse architectures using technologies such as Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg, or Apache Hudi.
  • Oversee cloud infrastructure decisions and guide best practices across platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across data systems, optimizing distributed processing frameworks and storage layers.
  • Lead incident response for complex data issues, implementing root-cause solutions and proactive monitoring strategies.
  • Ensure strong data governance practices, including cataloging, lineage, and access control using tools such as Unity Catalog, Amundsen, or DataHub.
  • Improve storage efficiency and data processing performance through partitioning strategies, compression formats, and query optimization.
Requirements

You should bring strong technical depth in data engineering, cloud infrastructure, and governance, combined with a systems-thinking mindset and leadership in architectural decisions:

  • Solid experience in data engineering, with a strong focus on architecture design, scalable data platforms, and distributed systems.
  • Deep knowledge of data lake/lakehouse ecosystems, including tools such as Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg, or Apache Hudi.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure and services across AWS, Azure, or GCP environments.
  • Proficiency in infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Strong understanding of big data processing and performance tuning using technologies such as Apache Spark and Apache Kafka.
  • Experience with data storage formats such as Parquet and Avro, including optimization techniques for performance and cost.
  • Knowledge of containerized or distributed environments such as Kubernetes.
  • Strong analytical mindset, problem-solving ability, and capacity to work in high-complexity environments.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional technical teams.
  • Experience with Data Mesh and/or cloud security certifications is a plus.
Benefits
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and life insurance coverage
  • Digital healthcare support with 24/7 medical and wellness assistance
  • Meal or food allowance
  • Remote work support and initial home office setup assistance
  • Flexible working hours
  • Learning platform with courses, books, podcasts, and training resources
  • Gym membership support (Gympass)
  • Childcare assistance benefits
  • Profit sharing (PLR)
  • Transportation assistance (for in-office roles, when applicable)
  • Continuous education and professional development programs
  • Inclusive and diversity-driven work environment
