Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Teacher

Position Overview

As an education professional, you will help shape future Christian leaders who will advance God’s church, community, and His Kingdom on earth. This position implements a Classical Christian curriculum that involves a love for ancient wisdom, instilling virtue, connecting Christ to every subject, and developing world class rhetorical skills. The ideal candidate will work closely with their team and director to create a vibrant classical school culture in the classroom, in assemblies, and in chapels.

ESE Teacher – 10-month position

Qualifications

  • Evidence of strong Christian testimony and values and acknowledgement of and commitment to the school’s Statement of Faith and Staff Leadership Covenant.
  • Bachelor’s degree in area of expertise and ESE certified.
  • Successful completion of the Florida Teacher Certification Exam (FTCE) or agency accreditation.
  • Evidence of ability to interact collaboratively with staff, students, parents, and administration.
  • Evidence of excellent oral and written skills.
  • Passing of drug test and Level 2 background check.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible to the School Administration.
  • Maintain individualized education programs for students.
  • Plan, organize, and assign activities that are specific to each student’s abilities.
  • Adjust education plans throughout the school year.
  • Plan effective lessons consistent with state and PBCA’s curriculum framework(s).
  • Identify lesson objectives appropriate for the level of achievement of individual students, based on curriculum goals and selects appropriate materials.
  • Identify effective procedures to assess attainment of lesson objectives.
  • Understand and demonstrate knowledge of Exceptional Student Education.
  • Observe confidentiality relating to students, teachers, and school.
  • Communicate effectively with students and parents to increase student achievement.
  • Use instructional time efficiently, while employing the principles of continued quality improvement in an instructional setting with students.
  • Establish and maintain standards for acceptance for acceptable student behavior.
  • Present subject matter effectively, using technology where appropriate and available, while using appropriate skills and strategies that promote the creative/critical thinking capabilities of students.
  • Provide specialized instructional techniques and media through individual and/or group sessions designed to meet the educational, social, and emotional needs of the students.
  • Collect student performance data for progress monitoring and reports student progress towards Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals.
  • Participate in IEP meetings with parents and appropriate school and agency personnel.
  • Participate in eligibility determination meetings.
  • Participate in Professional Development activities relating to performing job responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and implement all requirements.
  • Provide transition planning for students with disabilities, as required.
