SUMMARY:

The MI Field Service Manager is a technical leader responsible for planning, managing, reviewing, and executing all aspects of field service operations within a large-scale sales environment. This role oversees one field service shop, including service shop management, inventory control, and workflow coordination. The manager leads, hires, trains, and coaches a team of one to five or more employees, such as Field Service Technicians, Supervisors, Customer Service Representatives, and administrative staff. A hands-on understanding of field service management is essential, with an understanding in conveyor belt construction and maintenance, as well as familiarity with key conveyance equipment like belt slitters, vulcanizers, and vulcanizer presses. The MI Field Service Manager ensures operational excellence, high-quality service delivery, and technical proficiency throughout the team.

JOB DUTIES:
  • Lead and manage the full scope of field service operations including the shop, field service team, and work order management.
  • Provide technical guidance and support on conveyance equipment such as conveyor belts, belt slitters, vulcanizers, and vulcanizer presses.
  • Oversee work order flow ensuring timely and efficient completion, with a deep understanding of conveyor belt construction and repair processes.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and coach a multidisciplinary team consisting of Field Service Technicians, Supervisors, Customer Service Representatives, and administrative staff.
  • Manage and control all operating expenses, inventory, and resources at the assigned facility.
  • Ensure all staff comply with safety standards and conduct regular safety and financial audits.
  • Maintain and update daily scheduling boards to optimize resource allocation and service efficiency.
  • Monitor team performance metrics, troubleshoot operational issues, and implement continuous improvement plans.
  • Develop and maintain documented succession plans to support seamless leadership continuity.
  • Foster a positive, driven work culture with strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving focus.
  • Provide hands-on support as needed in the field and shop areas.
  • Execute additional duties and special projects as assigned by leadership.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree or technical certification preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in field service management, with significant exposure to conveyance systems and equipment.
  • Proven track record managing field technicians and shop operations.
  • Strong technical understanding of conveyor belt construction, repair, and associated machinery.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Solid knowledge of conveyor maintenance equipment and conveyor belt construction.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing field service teams and shop personnel.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, analytical, and technical problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to lead by example and work alongside the technical team in both shop and field environments.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to train and develop a skilled technical workforce.
  • Capability to remain calm and effective during emergencies or operational challenges.
  • Proficiency in managing budgets, inventory, and operational expenses.
  • Commitment to safety compliance and continual process improvement.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds, perform repetitive bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing ladders, and work in both indoor and outdoor environments with occasional noise exposure.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: 2-5 Direct Reports

It also does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the position. If you are hired at Motion, your overall compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience which may result in total compensation outside of this range.
  • Compensation is from $85,277 to $117,210 annually
