Security Guard at Hirshleifers – Manhasset, New York

Hirshleifers, a premier luxury fashion retailer located in the Americana Manhasset, is seeking a professional and vigilant Security Guard to join our team. The ideal candidate has strong awareness, excellent judgment, and previous experience in retail security or loss prevention. This role is essential in ensuring the safety of guests, staff, merchandise, and property while upholding Hirshleifers’ high standards of customer experience.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor public areas, sales floors, entrances, and high‑value sections for unusual activity or potential security threats.
• Oversee and operate security systems including alarms, access controls, and CCTV cameras.
• Maintain constant situational awareness to proactively identify risks or suspicious behavior.
• Identify potential shoplifters, internal theft indicators, or fraudulent behavior among customers or staff.
• Discreetly observe and, when necessary, follow individuals of interest in accordance with store policy and legal guidelines.
• Safely confront and address suspected shoplifters as trained and authorized.
• Work closely with management and local law enforcement when required.
• Accurately document incidents, theft attempts, suspicious activity, and any security violations.
• Prepare detailed written reports of observations while on duty, including timelines and supporting facts.
• Maintain logs of daily activities, equipment checks, and any operational concerns.
• Provide a visible, professional security presence that promotes a safe shopping environment.
• Respond to emergencies—including medical emergencies, alarms, or building safety issues—in a calm, efficient manner.
• Support staff with secure opening and closing procedures.

• 3–4+ years of professional security experience, preferably in luxury retail, hospitality, or loss prevention.
• Strong observational and interpersonal skills; able to remain composed under pressure.
• Familiarity with CCTV systems, alarm procedures, and retail security protocols.
• Ability to stand or patrol for extended periods.
• Professional demeanor, punctuality, and reliability.
• Valid NYS Security Guard License (required).
• CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.
• Fast‑paced luxury retail setting.
• Requires weekend, evening, and holiday availability.
• Ability to interact with customers, staff, and law enforcement as needed.
