About the Position
We are seeking a Field Inspector to support rapid rail and facilities construction programs in Atlanta, Georgia. This role performs regular and specialized inspections to ensure that contractor work complies with building codes, contract specifications, client standards, and project drawings. The inspector will coordinate across technical disciplines, assist with documentation and compliance activities, and support the clients oversight responsibilities across multiple concurrent projects.
This is a long-term, full-time, on-site position located in Atlanta, GA
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Conduct ongoing field inspections to ensure contractor compliance with applicable building codes, contract specifications, construction drawings, and clients requirements across assigned technical areas, including architectural, mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, and rail.
- Perform inspections and documentation for rapid rail and facilities projects, supporting project safety, code compliance, and contract adherence.
- Manage several active inspection assignments simultaneously while maintaining accurate logs, reports, and compliance documentation.
- Support identification and resolution of field issues, including deficiencies, corrective actions, and coordination with contractors and client staff.
- Read and interpret contract specifications, construction documents, codes, and standards applicable to rail transit infrastructure.
- Participate in field meetings, document outcomes, and support communication across project teams, contractors, and client representatives.
- Mentor and provide guidance to lowerlevel inspection staff, supporting consistency in field procedures and quality expectations.
- Contribute to project closeout activities including punch lists, verification of corrective work, and documentation updates.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1.5+years experienceworkingas aCEIInspector.
- Considerable knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction.
- Considerable knowledge of mathematicalfunctions,including geometry.
- Skill in the use of office equipment such as calculators and computers.
- Ability to read, interpret, and explain such things as construction plans, contract provisions, specifications, and inspection procedures.
- Ability to take notes and prepare or review reports.
- Ability to instruct other employees in proper work methods.
- Must be licensed tooperatemotor vehiclesin accordance withGeorgia Law.
- Proficiencywith computers (e.g., Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Outlook, internet, etc.)
Required Certifications
Please Note: For titlescontainingGDOT, certifications or passing scores on Engineering Skills Development Tests must be obtained within six (6) months of beginning work on the GDOT project. Certifications from other agencies or states maypossibly besubstituted.
- GDOT WECS.
- GDOT Field Concrete Technician Certification.
- GSWCC Level 1a (Erosion Control).
- Passing scores on GDOTs Construction Engineering Inspection Training tests Group 1 (General Provisions, Auxiliary Items, Basic Highway Math, Basic Highway Plan Reading).
- Passing scores on GDOTs Construction Engineering Inspection Training tests Group 2 (Pavements, Bases, Subbases, Minor Drainage Structures, Construction Erosion Control).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or engineering technology
- Experience with public transit, rail, or transportation infrastructure programs.
- Experience with federally funded transportation projects.
- Experience mentoring or training junior inspection staff
- Current OSHA 30 and Authority's Safety Compliance certifications.
Compensation Details
The salary range listed for this role is $79k-$89k/year ($38-$43/hour). The final salary offered will be based on multiple factors and thoughtfully aligned with each candidates level of experience, breadth of skills, total education achieved, certifications/licenses that have been obtained, geographic location, etc.
