Steel Erector 1

All skills of laborer 2/Trade Helper plus:

• Proficient in completing THAs.
• Recognize hazard and danger zones.
• Proficient in the use of electric tools.
• Understand level, plumb, and square concepts.
• Fall protection training.
• Able to effectively sort and stag structure components.
• Aerial lift and Scissor Lift training.
• Able to perform ground assembly.
• Basic understanding of steel structure erection.
• Able to use grinders and metal cutting tools.

Steel Erector 2

• Encompasses all Steel Erector 1Roles/ Responsibilities and Skills as well the following:
• Able to follow safety policies and procedures.
• Able to plan and execute work with minimum supervision.
• Certified and proficient in crane signaling and flagging.
• Proficient in grinding and metal cutting using a saw, plasma cutter, torch, etc.
• Material rigging certification.

Steel Erector 3

• Encompasses all Steel Erector 2 Roles/ Responsibilities and Skills as well the following.
• Able to execute work independently.
• Understand steel erection shop drawings.
• Able to perform material calculations.
• Able to perform blind connections.
• Able to maneuver large, oddly shaped components into precise locations. (Complex erection)
• Able to train and mentor less experienced employees.
• Able to coordinate work with other trades.
• Understand look-ahead schedules.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 2+ years experience in ironwork preferred
• Able to set columns.
• Proficient in mag drill use.
• Able to list and secure straight and accessible beams (Simple beam erection)
• Basic blueprint reading.
• Able to identify and understand steel structure components (Columns, beams, girders, trusses, purlins, lintels, etc.)
• Understand steel erection sequences and procedures
• Able to safely assist with steel erection activities.
• Able to work in heights.
• Able to perform beam connections.
• Proficient in overhead work activities.
