We pride ourselves on engineering excellence and our commitment to delivering superior products to our industrial and commercial partners.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Quality to lead our Quality Assurance and Quality Control departments. A primary and immediate objective for this role is to lead Meta Power Solutions through the process of achieving ISO 9001 certification within the current calendar year.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of electrical manufacturing processes (specifically switchgear and transformers) and has a proven track record of building Quality Management Systems (QMS) from the ground up to certification readiness. You will be the architect of our quality culture, ensuring we meet the highest industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
ISO 9001 Implementation & Certification (Priority):
• Lead the initiative to achieve ISO 9001 certification by the end of this year.
• Conduct a comprehensive gap analysis of current processes against ISO 9001 standards.
• Draft, review, and implement all necessary Quality Manuals, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Work Instructions.
• Select and manage the relationship with the external Registrar/Certification Body.
• Coordinate and lead all internal and external audits required for certification.
Strategic Leadership:
• Develop and execute a comprehensive Quality strategy aligned with company goals and industry regulations (UL, IEEE, NEMA, ANSI).
• Lead, mentor, and develop the Quality Assurance and Quality Control teams.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for external audits, regulatory bodies, and major customer quality inquiries.
Operational Quality Management:
• Oversee the entire product lifecycle quality, from incoming raw materials (steel, copper, insulation) to final testing of switchboards and transformers.
• Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) systems.
• Oversee final acceptance testing (FAT) protocols for custom switchgear and transformer units.
Process Improvement:
• Utilize Lean Six Sigma methodologies to reduce waste, minimize scrap/rework, and optimize manufacturing efficiency.
• Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for quality (e.g., First Pass Yield, Cost of Poor Quality) and report regular metrics to the executive team.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Quality Management. Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
• Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of quality leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
• ISO Expertise: Demonstrated experience leading a manufacturing organization through the initial ISO 9001 certification process is required.
• Industry Knowledge: Specific experience with electrical distribution equipment (switchboards, switchgear, panelboards) and transformers is highly preferred.
• Certification: Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE), Six Sigma Black Belt, or Lead Auditor certification is strongly desired.
• Technical Skills:
o Expert-level knowledge of ISO 9001 standards and documentation requirements.
o Familiarity with UL (Underwriters Laboratories) standards (e.g., UL 891, UL 1558) and IEEE/ANSI standards.
• Soft Skills: Strong leadership capabilities, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to drive organizational change.
What We Offer
• Competitive executive salary and performance-based bonus structure.
• Comprehensive benefits package (Health, Dental, Vision).
• 401(k) with company match.
• Paid time off and holidays.
• The opportunity to build a Quality legacy by leading our company to its first ISO certification.
