Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, approx. 6:30 AM – 5:30 PM (up to 40 hours/week)

Talantage is hiring Grounds Maintenance Laborers to support El Yunque National Forest. This role requires individuals who are reliable, safety-conscious, and physically capable of performing labor-intensive outdoor tasks under variable environmental conditions.

Position Overview:
Talantage is hiring Grounds Maintenance Laborers to support El Yunque National Forest. This role requires individuals who are reliable, safety-conscious, and physically capable of performing labor-intensive outdoor tasks under variable environmental conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform grounds maintenance including mowing, pruning, weeding, sod/topsoil replacement, and watering.
- Maintain recreational areas, trails, and facilities including sign cleaning, pressure washing, and minor repairs (benches, fences, gates, etc.).
- Safely operate hand tools and landscaping equipment.
- Assist in removal of debris, felled trees, or vegetation from roadways and trails.
- Hike to remote and rugged locations as needed for maintenance tasks.
- Comply with USDA Forest Service policies, including safety, environmental protection, and workplace conduct.
- Maintain and submit monthly status reports.
- Attend safety meetings and comply with all PPE requirements.
- Prior experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or related outdoor labor.
- Ability to work outdoors in high heat/humidity and hike in difficult terrain.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire).
- Completion of safety training (provided if not already certified).
- Familiarity with safe use of landscaping tools and equipment.
- Must pass a law enforcement background check for access to federal facilities.
- Must supply personal PPE: hard hat, gloves, safety boots, chaps, safety glasses, safety vest, and rain gear.
- Must provide own meals and water daily.
- No smoking, alcohol, or littering permitted on federal land.
- Weekend or emergency hours may be required with prior approval.
- Work may be reduced or cancelled due to adverse weather or forest closure.
- Submit valid CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of contract start.
- Submit monthly report by the 5th of each month, documenting activities and any challenges.
