Overview

Sperry Rail Service is a leading global provider of Rail Flaw Detection (RFD) services and technologies for railway networks worldwide. Position Summary

The Data Analyst is responsible for processing and analyzing computer-generated test data collected from detector cars. This role ensures accuracy and compliance with internal and customer specifications by generating audit reports, supporting investigations, and maintaining departmental standards. The position plays a critical role in supporting quality, customer satisfaction, and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyze test data from rail inspection systems to identify defects and trends
  • Generate audit reports in accordance with company and client specifications
  • Provide data comparisons and analysis as requested by the Quality Manager

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to internal auditing standards and customer requirements
  • Maintain customer and intercompany audit processes
  • Support service failure investigations by reviewing and analyzing relevant data

Operational Support

  • Assist in maintaining departmental procedures and documentation
  • Track and report departmental metrics as assigned
  • Support analysis and validation of new technologies
  • Provide data comparisons and training materials for internal programs (e.g., Chief Operator training)

Customer & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Respond to customer requests and ensure timely delivery of reports
  • Support resolution of customer concerns and complaints
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure data accuracy and service quality

Objectives

  • Deliver accurate and timely audit reports to meet customer expectations
  • Maintain high standards of data integrity and service capability
  • Support continuous improvement in departmental processes and performance

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to analyze data and identify discrepancies or trends
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain professionalism in all internal and external interactions
