Part-Time Faculty - Languages & Adult Basic Education CPD - Grants
Teaching Languages & Adult Basic Education(Grants) related course work.
Applications for part-time faculty positions are accepted on a continuous basis and reviewed if openings become available. These positions are not current vacancies. Instructors employed as part-time faculty are not entitled to all the rights, privileges, and benefits of regular, full-time employees. Part-time faculty are hired on an "as needed" basis and will work for the duration of time specified by the respective course. A portion of teaching assignment may be evening classes and possibly weekend classes.
- Provides quality instruction to adult learners, integrating meaningful classroom activities and valuable experiences that facilitate students' learning goals and workforce skills.
- Teach non-native English students basic communications skills
- Integrate a variety of teaching techniques within a single classroom
- Develop and use a syllabus for each course within college and departmental guidelines
- Evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and inform them in a timely manner of their progress
- Submit required college reports and forms
- Teach courses at a variety of times and locations in response to institutional needs
- Provide access to students through electronic communication and other appropriate methods
- Adhere to district policies and procedures
- Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community
- Participate in seminars and training in the Fall, Spring and Summer.
- Support and abide by all college and Adult Education Program policies and procedures.
- Complete 6 hours of pre-service orientation prior to employment.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Continuing & Professional Development (CPD) is a District function operating programs on any and all San Jacinto College campuses including off-site locations.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree from accredited college or university and relevant experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in the discipline or a Master's Degree with 18 graduate hours in the discipline from an accredited university.
- Prior college teaching experience.
- Experience with international students.
- Texas Teaching Certification preferred.
Hourly rate is based on the Board-approved rate schedule for the current fiscal year. See Salary Schedule
