Seasonal Commercial Driver (Class A) at Delta Packing Company of Lodi Inc – Lodi, California

We are seeking motivated and responsible individuals to join our seasonal staff for our upcoming harvest packing season.

Within the following application process, there are specific skills and work experience questions we’re requesting your response to, in order to review your skills and qualifications as they pertain to our upcoming seasonal Commercial Driver (Class A) employment opportunities.

The commercial Class A driver is responsible for transporting finished goods, materials, tools, equipment, and supplies to various company, partner, and/or customer locations.

Commercial Driving

• Ability to drive commercial vehicles requiring a Class A CDL.
• Knowledge of transportation principles and methods for transporting goods by commercial vehicle.
• Transports loads safely and on time over the required route, obeying all state and federal transportation and traffic laws, and all safety regulations.
• Deftly maneuvers truck and trailer into loading and unloading areas following loading crew signals.
• Assists with loading and unloading of goods and materials as required.
• Maintains signed invoices, shipping bills of lading, and other required paperwork; delivers documentation to the office or other appropriate staff when the delivery route is complete.
• Facilitates routine safety checks and service checks on trucks, which may include checking oil, water, fuel, and air pressures, and reports maintenance malfunctions to supervision immediately.
• Ability to secure, strap, and protect loads to ensure safe transit, prevent damage, and comply with transportation regulations

Customer Service and Teamwork

• Provide outstanding service and support to internal company teams and customers.
• Ability to work all necessary work schedules, including holidays/weekends and extended hours as needed.
• Ability to remain focused in a busy environment.

Education / Experience / Certifications

• Must hold the required commercial driver's license appropriate for the weight of the vehicle to be operated (i.e., Class A, CDL), and possess a current DOT Medical certification card.
• Must pass background and drug testing as required by federal and/or state department(s) of transportation regulations.
• Minimum 4+ years of direct commercial driving experience.
• Experienced forklift driver with certification (preferred).

Physical Requirements and Working Environment

• Prolonged periods sitting in a trailer cab for long periods of time.
• Work in hot and cold environments, loading, strapping, and unloading products and materials.
• Must be able to occasionally lift and move up to 40 pounds at a time.
• Ability to regularly travel to company or third-party partner fields, storage, and operating locations.
