Description: Lifeguard

The Point Surf Park
Fellsmere, Florida
Full-Time, Part-Time, or Seasonal

About the Position

The Point Surf Park is looking for alert, dependable, and safety-focused Lifeguards to help protect our guests and create a safe, professional, and welcoming water experience.

This is more than sitting in a chair and watching the water. Our Lifeguards actively monitor assigned zones, identify unsafe conditions before they become emergencies, enforce water-safety rules, respond to rescues and medical situations, and work closely with the rest of our Water Safety and Operations teams.

We are looking for people who can stay focused, respond decisively when needed, communicate clearly, and always put safety first.

What You’ll DoProtect Our Guests

• Maintain active and uninterrupted surveillance of assigned water zones, towers, roving areas, or support positions.

• Use approved scanning techniques and zone-coverage procedures.

• Identify distressed or missing guests, unsafe behavior, hazards, overcrowding, changing conditions, and rule violations.

• Intervene promptly and professionally before unsafe situations become emergencies whenever possible.

• Enforce water-safety rules consistently and provide clear instructions to guests.

Respond When It Matters

• Perform rescues, first aid, CPR, AED use, spinal-management procedures, and Emergency Action Plan responsibilities within your training and certification.

• Activate additional resources immediately when a guest or employee may be in danger.

• Respond calmly and professionally during injuries, rescues, guest conflicts, and operational disruptions.

• Participate in missing-person response, severe-weather procedures, emergency drills, and other safety activities.

Keep Your Zone and Equipment Ready

• Complete required pre-shift, opening, rotation, and closing checks.

• Inspect rescue tubes, backboards, oxygen equipment, AEDs, first-aid supplies, radios, towers, and assigned areas.

• Keep rescue and response equipment accessible, clean, and ready for use.

• Immediately report missing, damaged, depleted, or malfunctioning equipment.

Communicate and Document

• Maintain clear radio and face-to-face communication with Lifeguards, Water Patrol, Wave Operations, Operations, and leadership.

• Never transfer visual coverage without a confirmed handoff.

• Complete rescue, first-aid, incident, equipment, guest-removal, and near-miss reports accurately and objectively.

• Communicate unresolved safety concerns during shift handoffs.

What We’re Looking For

• Current Lifeguard certification acceptable to The Point Surf Park, including CPR, AED, and First Aid credentials, required.

• Successful completion of company-required water skills, rescue skills, physical-readiness, certification, and park-specific competency assessments.

• Prior lifeguarding, aquatic safety, surf rescue, water patrol, emergency response, recreation, or comparable experience preferred.

• Strong situational awareness and the ability to remain focused during extended periods of surveillance.

• Calm and decisive response during emergencies and high-pressure situations.

• Clear verbal, radio, and written communication.

• Sound judgment and willingness to ask for help or escalate when safety is uncertain.

• Dependability, teamwork, coachability, and emotional control.

• Ability to maintain required certifications and participate in ongoing training and recertification.

The Kind of Team Member Who Will Thrive Here

You stay alert even when nothing is happening.

You notice small problems before they become big ones.

You are comfortable enforcing a safety rule even when a guest does not love hearing it.

You communicate clearly and do not guess when safety is involved.

You take training seriously because you understand that someone may depend on those skills one day.

Most importantly, you understand that protecting people comes before convenience or speed.

Schedule

Schedules may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, special events, training sessions, weather-related changes, and periods of high guest volume.

Regular and reliable attendance, punctuality, and the ability to remain for the full assigned shift are essential.
