The Physics Department at Thompson Rivers University (TRU) invites applications for a Sessional position starting Sept. 8, 2026. In this teaching-oriented position, the successful candidate will create and maintain a positive and engaging learning environment while teaching first year physics, electronic properties to engineers and physics students. We are seeking candidates with a documented track record of a successful, reflective teaching practice at the post-secondary level. Candidates successful in this role will be eligible for right of first refusal for similar courses through the winter term.
The ideal candidate will have a Ph. D. or M. Sc. in physics or engineering with a focus on materials science/condensed matter, with at least five years teaching a full workload at a Canadian post-secondary institution and proven track record of teaching excellence. Assessment of applications will begin in June 2026 and will continue until the position is filled.

a maximum one-page statement of teaching philosophy

This position is subject to budgetary approval. Final workload and courses are scheduling and enrollment dependent.
