Commercial Electrician – Field Technician (2nd Shift)
Location: Virginia Beach, VA
Job Type: Full-Time | Contract-to-Hire
Schedule: Second Shift
Pay: Starts at $27.00/hour, higher based on experience
Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Commercial Electrician to support installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting work across active job sites. This position involves hands-on electrical work in commercial environments, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and productivity.
The ideal candidate has solid field experience, can read and interpret technical drawings, and is comfortable working independently on installations and repairs.
Key ResponsibilitiesInstallation & Service Work
- Install, maintain, and upgrade commercial electrical systems in compliance with applicable codes
- Diagnose and repair electrical components, wiring, and equipment
- Plan and execute installation layouts to support efficiency and long-term serviceability
- Perform conduit bending using manual, hydraulic, or mechanical tools
Technical & Blueprint Interpretation
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical drawings
- Utilize tools such as threaders, knockout punches, cable pullers, hammer drills, and compression tools
- Complete job documentation and reports accurately
Job Site & Safety
- Maintain clean and organized work areas and equipment
- Adhere to project schedules and productivity expectations
- Travel locally to various job sites as needed
- Work safely at heights using ladders and access equipment
- Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, confined space, and hazard communication standards
Additional Support
- Assist with troubleshooting mechanical-related systems such as HVAC or refrigeration when needed
- Participate in training and ongoing skill development
- Support team goals while maintaining professionalism on job sites
- Journeyman-level electrical experience with progressive field responsibility
- Background in commercial electrical installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Minimum of 4 years of commercial electrical experience preferred
- Strong understanding of electrical codes and safe work practices
- Ability to bend conduit and perform installations independently
- Experience using standard commercial electrical tools and equipment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Exposure to HVAC, refrigeration, or related mechanical systems
- Experience in commercial construction or service environments
- Familiarity with multi-site or project-based electrical work
- Completion of required safety certifications
- Participation in ongoing technical and operational training
