Position Summary: The Occupational Therapist works as an itinerant therapist to provideeducationally necessary therapeutic intervention in the area of motor skill development, focusingprimarily on visual motor, fine motor, bilateral coordination, self-help, and sensorimotordevelopment. Services are provided in a variety of school settings, ranging from age 3 through
grade 12.
Key Functions:
Conduct standardized and informal assessments to determine students' need foroccupational therapy services
Develop and deliver direct, collaborative, monitor, and consultative therapeutic servicesaligned to IEP goals
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and outside agencies to supportstudent progress
Maintain compliant documentation in EdPlan and meet District, State, and Federalspecial education requirements
Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants when assigned, in accordance with StateOTA supervision guidelines
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or universityExperience:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience providing occupational therapy services
Licenses and Certifications:
National certification by the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board(NBCOT)
State of Oklahoma certification/licensure as a special service provider in the area ofOccupational Therapy
Valid driver's license required (role is itinerant and requires travel between school sites)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of and demonstrated use of appropriate standardized assessment tools andtreatment techniques in the area of motor and sensorimotor skill development
Applied knowledge of motor and sensorimotor therapeutic treatments and modalities toassist in improving students' educational performance
Knowledge of school-based occupational therapy services
Knowledge of adaptive equipment and assistive technology that may be required toaddress access needs of children with disabilities
Knowledge of District, State, and Federal special education regulations as they relate toschool-based OT services
Ability to develop and implement individual educational plan goals and objectivesrelating to motor and sensorimotor skill development in the school setting
Ability to develop and implement OT service delivery models, such as direct,collaborative, monitor, and consultative
Ability to prioritize, organize, and manage workload autonomously
Ability to communicate effectively with other professionals
Ability to be flexible and adapt to the changing needs of students, teachers, and schools
Ability to drive to various schools to provide itinerant occupational therapy services tostudents on caseload
Ability to perform basic office operational duties, including use of computer, time-offreporting, EdPlan, printers, and completion of mileage forms
Ability to work collaboratively with others on a team
