Position Summary:

As a Network Engineer III, you will serve as a senior technical expert and primary engineering driver for our enterprise network infrastructure. In this role you will own critical network platforms and domains, lead complex design and implementation efforts, and provide technical leadership to junior and mid-level engineers. Juniper is our primary networking platform, and deep JunOS expertise is central to this role. You will operate with strong autonomy, choosing your approach and driving execution across high-impact projects and ambiguous problem spaces.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and operate critical network platforms and domains with full technical accountability
  • Design, implement, and optimize advanced routing and switching solutions across enterprise infrastructure
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex and ambiguous network issues, including major root cause analysis initiatives
  • Architect network security solutions ensuring robust posture and compliance with industry standards
  • Lead network change management processes for high-impact or high-risk changes
  • Mentor and develop Engineer I and II team members through technical coaching and knowledge sharing
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on infrastructure projects and technology evaluations
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, standards, and best practices
  • Participate in capacity planning, performance optimization, and strategic technology evaluation
  • Participate in on-call rotation for critical infrastructure and occasional off-hours maintenance windows
  • Travel – 30%

Routing & Switching

  • Design and implement advanced routing solutions using ISIS, OSPF, and BGP in large-scale production environments
  • Expert-level configuration and troubleshooting of Juniper MX-series routers and EX/QFX-series, and Cisco.
  • Design and operate switching infrastructure using MP-BGP EVPN, VXLAN, VLANs, spanning tree, and link aggregation
  • Lead RCAs for major routing and switching incidents and drive systemic improvements to prevent recurrence

Firewall & Security

  • Design and implement enterprise security solutions across Juniper SRX and Fortinet platforms
  • Lead security architecture initiatives including network segmentation strategy and ACL design
  • Serve as technical escalation point for complex firewall and security incidents
  • Influence and improve team-wide security standards, patterns, and documentation

Automation & Scripting

  • Develop and maintain production-grade automation solutions using Python, Ansible, and vendor tooling
  • Lead the design and implementation of automation frameworks that improve consistency and scalability
  • Evaluate and introduce new automation technologies and advocate for adoption where appropriate
  • Act as a technical resource and coach for Engineer I/II team members building automation skills

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting enterprise networks
  • Deep expertise with Juniper MX-series routers, EX/QFX-series switches, SRX/Fortinet firewalls in large production environments
  • Extensive production experience with ISIS, OSPF, and BGP routing protocols at scale
  • Expert knowledge of MP-BGP EVPN, VXLAN, VLANs, spanning tree, and link aggregation
  • Deep expertise with enterprise firewalls including Juniper SRX and Fortinet appliances
  • JNCIE-ENT, JNCIE-SP, JNCIP, CCIE-level certification required; candidates without certification must demonstrate verifiable equivalent production experience
  • Proficiency in network automation using Python, Ansible, or comparable tooling
  • Excellent documentation skills with ability to create clear technical diagrams and runbooks
  • Strong communication skills with ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience with Juniper Mist, SD-WAN, cloud networking (AWS/Azure/GCP), or data center spine-leaf architectures a plus

  • Able to remain in a seated position for an extended period and to lift and carry up to 15 lbs. (office manuals, case notebooks, case files, case materials, standard boxes, report binders, etc.) as needed.
