Job Description
Job Title: Staff Accountant
Location: New York, NY (On-site)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: International Accounting Team
Position Overview:
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for managing the company’s daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank and credit card reconciliations, quarterly sales tax filings, and preparation for annual tax reporting. This role will work closely with management and external accountants to maintain compliance and support financial accuracy across multiple store locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and record all accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Manage vendor invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure payments are processed according to terms.
- Prepare and issue customer invoices and track outstanding balances.
- File quarterly sales tax returns in compliance with New York State and NYC regulations.
- Assist with end-of-year financial preparation, including compiling documents for CPA review and tax filings.
- Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation for audits and internal reporting.
- Support inventory cost tracking and assist in variance analysis.
- Collaborate with store managers and the operations team to ensure financial accuracy and adherence to internal controls.
- Identify and implement process improvements to streamline accounting workflows.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the restaurant, retail, or hospitality industry.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Excel, and related accounting software.
- Experience with sales tax filing and multi-location accounting preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
- Mandarin speaking preferred – ability to communicate with Mandarin-speaking international team
