Sr Analyst, IT Controls Testing

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr Analyst, IT Controls Testing based in Canada.

This role plays a key part in ensuring the effectiveness, integrity, and compliance of IT and operational controls across critical business processes. You will be responsible for executing structured control testing activities across areas such as project management, service delivery, SDLC, and Agile environments. The position involves assessing control effectiveness, identifying gaps, and providing clear insights and recommendations to strengthen governance and risk management practices. You will work within a highly regulated environment where accuracy, documentation quality, and analytical rigor are essential. The role combines hands-on testing, stakeholder collaboration, and continuous improvement responsibilities, requiring someone comfortable navigating complex systems and business processes. This is an opportunity to contribute directly to risk mitigation and operational excellence within a large-scale financial services environment.

Accountabilities:
  • Execute control testing, monitoring, and health checks across IT and business processes, including SDLC, project management, and service delivery frameworks.
  • Analyze business artifacts, workflows, and control environments to assess compliance and identify gaps or weaknesses.
  • Document testing results, including findings, issues, workpapers, and supporting evidence in a clear and audit-ready format.
  • Provide insights, recommendations, and root cause analysis to improve control effectiveness and operational performance.
  • Support Agile and Waterfall delivery environments by validating adherence to defined processes and standards.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support audits, reviews, and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure timely execution of testing activities while maintaining high standards of accuracy, consistency, and quality.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to control testing frameworks and methodologies.
Requirements:
  • 4–6 years of experience in IT controls testing, compliance, internal audit, risk management, or a related analytical role.
  • Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC, project management, service delivery frameworks, and Agile/Waterfall methodologies.
  • Experience performing control testing, monitoring activities, health checks, and spot checks in complex environments.
  • Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document findings clearly and concisely.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools, particularly Excel, Word, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and exercise sound judgment within defined risk frameworks.
