Job Description
Position Summary
The UTMB Information Technology Services (ITS) Fellow participates in a structured, paid six-month fellowship program designed to develop future IT professionals within an Academic, Healthcare, and Research environment. Fellows gain hands-on experience through rotations across multiple ITS service areas, working alongside technical staff, project teams, and organizational leaders while developing practical skills in technology, customer service, operations, and healthcare IT.
Program Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for this fellowship, applicants must meet all of the requirements below:
Key Responsibilities
Participate in scheduled rotations across various Information Technology Services departments.
Assist with operational tasks, technology projects, and service-related initiatives.
Collaborate with technical teams, managers, and business stakeholders.
Develop knowledge of healthcare IT systems, infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, and support services.
Attend training sessions, status meetings, and leadership presentations.
Complete assigned projects and present findings, recommendations, and lessons learned to the Fellowship Committee.
Demonstrate professionalism, critical thinking, communication, and customer service skills throughout the program.
Minimum Qualifications
An associate degree in Information Technology, Business, Finance, Healthcare, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Degree must be earned no more than two years prior to fellowship start date.
Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Strong interest in pursuing a career in Information Technology within healthcare or academic medicine.
Preferred Qualifications
Internship, project, leadership, or work experience in technology-related environments.
Strong communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Demonstrated initiative and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
This position requires regular travel among multiple UTMB campus locations, including Galveston, League City, Clear Lake, Angleton Danbury, and other satellite locations as needed.
*UTMB Healthcare Systems Staffing is the in-house staffing agency for UTMB. There are no benefits associated with this position, with the exception of the 401k retirement plan
