About Sigma Commercial

Sigma Commercial is a Milwaukee-based holding company that owns and supports a group of operating businesses in construction and manufacturing. We provide the shared back office for these companies, including accounting, HR, marketing, and technology. Our teams are made up of skilled tradespeople and hands-on operators who are great at what they do. Our goal is to give them technology that actually makes their work easier, not more complicated.

About the Role

We are looking for a practical, people-first technologist to be the bridge between our teams and the tools they use. Part of this job is classic IT support: keeping systems, accounts, and networks running. The bigger opportunity is helping our people work smarter. You will sit side by side with field crews, project managers, and office staff to understand how they work, teach them to get more out of the software we already have, and build new AI-powered tools that save time, reduce errors, and help grow revenue.

You do not need a computer science degree. We care about what you can build and how well you can work with people. Whether you come from a traditional IT or software background or taught yourself to build useful tools with AI, we want to see what you have made.

What You Will Do
Support and Training

-Serve as the go-to technology resource for employees across our companies, providing friendly, patient, hands-on help
-Train employees on our existing software, including Google Workspace, QuickBooks, Paychex, Dropbox, and several industry-specific cloud platforms, in plain language and at their pace
-Spend time with teams in their actual workflows to find where technology can remove frustration and wasted effort
-Create simple guides, checklists, and short training videos so employees can help themselves

IT Administration

-Manage Google Workspace, including user accounts, permissions, email, shared drives, and security settings
-Maintain our Ubiquiti network and Wi-Fi, and troubleshoot connectivity issues
-Set up and support laptops, phones, printers, and other devices
-Manage software licenses, onboarding and offboarding of user access, and relationships with technology vendors
-Keep systems secure through sound password practices, multi-factor authentication, backups, and access controls

AI and Workflow Development

-Use AI-assisted development tools, including Claude, to build practical internal tools, automations, and integrations
-Connect our existing systems so data moves between them without manual re-entry
-Identify and deliver projects that measurably improve efficiency, reduce costs, or drive revenue
-Turn ideas from the field into working solutions quickly, then refine them based on real feedback
-Document what you build so it can be maintained, supported, and improved over time

What We Are Looking For

-A track record of building working tools, automations, or applications, whether through traditional coding, AI-assisted development, or both. A portfolio or examples are strongly preferred.
-Hands-on experience supporting users and managing business technology, ideally including Google Workspace administration
-Exceptional patience and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to people who do not consider themselves "tech people"
-Genuine respect for skilled trades and blue-collar work, and comfort working alongside crews and operators
-Strong problem-solving instincts and the ability to work through issues independently
-A practical mindset focused on solutions that actually get used, not technology for its own sake
-Good judgment about data security and privacy when building and deploying tools
Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license for occasional travel to job sites and facilities

Nice to Have

-Experience with Ubiquiti networking equipment
-Experience with QuickBooks, Paychex, or construction and manufacturing software
-Familiarity with APIs, scripting (such as Python, JavaScript, or Google Apps Script), and automation platforms
-Background in or exposure to construction, manufacturing, or other field-based industries

What We Offer

-Health insurance, with 90% of the premium paid by the company
-Life insurance
-Paid vacation
-Paid holidays
-The opportunity to shape how a growing group of companies uses technology and AI, with real visibility into the impact of your work
