The Albuquerque Publishing Company and the Albuquerque Journal are looking for a Circulation Director to lead the strategy and day-to-day operations of our Circulation Department. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for growing and retaining subscribers, strengthening customer experience, managing distribution operations, and driving the financial performance of circulation across a diverse portfolio of publications.
You’ll oversee circulation operations for the Albuquerque Journal, two national publications, three community publications, and a magazine, while leading a team responsible for getting our products into the hands of readers.
What You'll Do
- Lead the Circulation Department and oversee daily operations across customer service, office operations, distribution, subscription marketing, revenue, expenses, and retention.
- Lead and develop the Circulation and Distribution Managers, fostering accountability, collaboration, and strong performance.
- Develop strategies to grow subscriptions, improve retention, increase revenue, and elevate the customer experience in partnership with the Chief Revenue Officer.
- Monitor circulation, revenue, expenses, delivery performance, and other key performance indicators to identify trends and opportunities.
- Use data and reporting to make informed business decisions and drive continuous improvement.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial management for the department.
- Evaluate department performance against goals and budgets and make adjustments to keep the team on track.
- Stay ahead of industry trends, technology, marketing strategies, and changing consumer behaviors.
- Partner with leadership, employees, vendors, and other departments to solve problems and move company initiatives forward.
- Lead and participate in projects that improve circulation performance, operational efficiency, and profitability.

Requirements:We’re looking for a strategic, analytical, and people-focused leader who can balance the big picture with the details that keep daily operations running smoothly.
- 5+ years of management or supervisory experience.
- Experience managing budgets, revenue, expenses, and performance metrics.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to turn data into action.
- Experience developing strategies around revenue growth, customer retention, or subscription marketing.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building abilities.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Comfort working with reporting, financial, customer management, and operational systems.
- A track record of identifying opportunities, improving processes, and delivering results.
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.
Work Enviorment
This is an on-site position in Albuquerque, NM. The role may include occasional local travel to distribution locations, vendor meetings, events, and operational sites, as well as occasional overnight travel for industry conferences, meetings, or training.
The position requires the ability to work in an office and operational environment, move throughout distribution areas as needed, use computers and office equipment for extended periods, and occasionally lift or move materials and equipment.
