We are seeking a skilled Controls Technician (Low Voltage) to join our team in Victorville, CA. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of low voltage control systems on overhead cranes, hoists, and related industrial equipment. You will play a key role in ensuring our customers receive safe, reliable, and high-quality service while supporting our commitment to operational excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Install, commission, troubleshoot, and repair low voltage control systems, including wiring, PLCs, variable frequency drives (VFDs), sensors, encoders, limit switches, and control panels on overhead cranes and hoists.
- Perform electrical and controls diagnostics on new installations, modernizations, and existing equipment in the field and in our shop.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to complete service and installation tasks accurately.
- Conduct functional testing and system commissioning to verify proper operation of low voltage controls and safety systems.
- Collaborate with mechanics, electricians, and project teams to ensure seamless integration of controls during equipment repairs, upgrades, and new installations.
- Document all work performed, including service reports, parts used, and time tracking, in accordance with company procedures.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in control systems and recommend upgrades or modifications to enhance safety and performance.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, OSHA standards, and company HSE policies while working at customer sites and in the facility.
- Provide technical support and training to customers and junior technicians as needed.
- Travel to customer sites within the assigned territory as required (local and regional travel).
Education and Job Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; Technical school, vocational training, or Associate’s degree in Electrical Technology, Controls, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 1–2 years of hands-on experience working with low voltage control systems in an industrial environment (crane, hoist, material handling, or heavy equipment experience strongly preferred).
- Solid understanding of low voltage electrical systems (typically 24–480V), motor controls, VFDs, and basic PLC programming/troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, ladder logic, and control schematics.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a focus on safety and quality.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to travel to job sites as needed.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safe work practices in industrial settings (Cal/OSHA knowledge a plus).
- Professional certifications such as NCCCO, CMAA, or electrical/controls-related certifications are a plus.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, work at heights, and in various outdoor and indoor industrial environments.
