POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide accurate, timely, and high-quality financial information in accordance with corporate policies and accounting standards. Support Property Management and Real Estate Accounting functions by maintaining financial records for assigned properties.

Key responsibilities include processing accounts payable, preparing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, cash management, assisting with month-end close, and reviewing financial statements for accuracy and completeness. Regularly collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Asset Management, Property Management, Finance, and senior leadership.

This role requires strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to deal effectively with people at all organizational levels, both internally and externally. This is a salaried position that may require occasional work beyond 40 hours per week to meet deadlines.

Requirements:

ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES:

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Review, post and pay invoices

· Section 8 payment review and posting

· Replacement reserves submissions

· Process Security Deposit Return Statements (SDRS) within 3 days of approved receipt

· Reconcile bank accounts

· General ledger review and maintenance

· Closely monitor cash flow activity

· Ensure accurate and timely payment of taxes, fees and distributions

· Perform monthly closings and prepare adjusting journal entries

· Prepare and review monthly financials for portfolio of properties

· Assist with preparation of budgets and variance analysis

· Facilitate annual audit, financial and tax reporting

· Work closely with development and property management teams

· Manage relationships and reporting requirements with lenders, investors and housing agencies

· Track operating reserve balances and draw activity

· Monitor loans to meet compliance and payment requirements

ATTENDANCE:

Regular attendance is required during normal working hours. Work beyond 40 hours per week may be needed.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

· Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Finance or Accounting from four-year institution with at least one year of relevant experience.

· Exposure to real estate and a dual degree in Finance/Accounting are desirable, but not necessary.

· Experience with Yard is a plus but not required

COMPUTER SKILLS:

· The individual must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.

· Exposure to or experience with common AI tools (Copilot, Claude) for task automation are desirable, but not necessary.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to upper management. Ability to teach others how to perform tasks and help other accountants grow in their understanding of the business and processes.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to apply present value, discounting and investment return concepts. Ability to prepare financial analysis ratios and interpret the results for use by upper management.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an Associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Involves walking and some driving to meet with internal and external customers, sitting at the computer, talking with internal and external customers in person and on the telephone.
