Certified Home Health/ Hospice Aide (CHHA)
๐ Position: Certified Home Health/Hospice Aide (CHHA)
Location: Newport Beach, CA
๐ Duration: 13โweek assignment
๐ Schedule: MondayโFriday, 8:30 AM โ 5:00 PM
๐ Setting: Home Health & Hospice โ patient home visits required
๐ต Pay Rate: $22/hr
๐ Travel: Local travel required; mileage reimbursed per client policy
๐งโ๐ซ Training: Equipment provided during orientation/training
โญ Position Summary
The Certified Home Health/Hospice Aide (CHHA) works under the supervision of an RN or therapist, providing personal care services to support patient comfort and independence. The CHHA documents patient observations, reports changes promptly, and supports continuity and safety in patient care.
This role does not include any duties considered nursing practice per state Nurse Practice Act (e.g., administering medication, taking orders, sterile procedures).
๐ Required Certifications & Licensure
- Active Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) certification in California โ in good standing
- Current BLS
- Registered on the Home Care Aide Registry (CA DSS โ Home Care Services Bureau)
- Valid driverโs license + insured, reliable vehicle
๐ Required Skills & Experience
- Experience providing personal care in Home Health and/or Hospice
- Ability to work independently in the field and maintain professionalism in patient homes
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills
- Demonstrated competency with equipment and technology used for patient care
- Knowledge of infection control protocols
- Ability to work with diverse patient populations
- Must demonstrate empathy, calm demeanor, and comfort supporting the terminally ill
- Hospice-specific training requirement:
- Minimum 75 hours classroom & supervised practical training
- 16 hours classroom + 16 hours mandatory practical training minimum
๐ Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent required

- Sensitivity to patient and family needs
- Understanding of patient safety principles
- Ability to build and maintain respectful professional relationships
โณ Physical Requirements
(Per role expectations)
- Frequent walking, standing, bending, lifting up to 25 lbs
- Occasional lifting/pulling up to 50 lbs
- Repetitive hand use, visual and hearing acuity
