Role Summary
We are looking for an energetic and motivated Production Manager to support daily bakery production operations. This role helps ensure the production team works safely, efficiently, and in alignment with company standards while meeting expectations for quality, productivity, labor, and overall shift performance.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a passion for safety, quality, teamwork, employee development, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise daily production activities to help ensure safety, quality, labor, and production goals are met.
Support production schedules, staffing assignments, line flow, and shift priorities based on business needs.
Lead, coach, motivate, and support production team members through clear communication, accountability, and consistent follow-up.
Ensure team members follow company policies, GMPs, food safety requirements, sanitation standards, and workplace safety expectations.
Monitor product quality throughout the shift to help ensure finished goods meet company specifications and customer expectations.
Identify production concerns, communicate issues timely, and help support corrective actions with urgency.
Partner with Production Management, Quality Assurance, Sanitation, Maintenance, and other departments to resolve operational concerns.
Assist with training new and existing team members on production procedures, safety practices, quality expectations, and job-specific responsibilities.
Support accurate completion of production reports, shift documentation, downtime tracking, labor reporting, and other required records.
Help monitor labor usage, waste, downtime, materials, and inventory needs to support efficient production flow.
Communicate equipment issues to Maintenance and assist with minimizing downtime when production interruptions occur.
Encourage a positive, team-oriented work environment built on communication, accountability, respect, and continuous improvement.
Support process improvement efforts that help increase productivity, reduce waste, improve safety, and strengthen overall production performance.
Required Qualifications
Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to lead, coach, and support employees in a fast-paced production environment.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to respond quickly to production, staffing, quality, or equipment concerns.
Good attention to detail with the ability to identify quality, safety, equipment, or process concerns.
Basic understanding of production processes, GMPs, food safety practices, sanitation expectations, and workplace safety requirements.
Ability to manage multiple shift priorities, including production goals, labor assignments, breaks, documentation, and issue resolution.
Ability to adapt to changing production needs, staffing levels, equipment issues, and business priorities.
Basic computer skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Teams, or production reporting systems.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a production, manufacturing, bakery, or food manufacturing environment preferred.
Prior lead, trainer, or supervisory experience in a production environment preferred.
Experience working in a high-volume food manufacturing or bakery environment preferred.
Experience with production reporting, labor tracking, inventory support, downtime tracking, or quality documentation preferred.
Exposure to FDA, USDA, SQF, AIB, customer audits, or third-party audit standards is a plus, but not required.
Preferred Skills and Certifications
Food manufacturing or bakery production experience preferred.
FSMA or PCQI certification a plus, but not required.
Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement exposure a plus.
Experience with ERP systems, production management software, inventory systems, or operational reporting tools preferred, but not required.
