HILO DRIVER (SIT-DOWN AND STAND-UP)

Department: Materials | Classification: Hourly, Non-Exempt | Reports To: Production Supervisor / Team Leader

Job Summary

Responsible for the movement and storage of production parts within the plant, ensuring the production line has the correct parts for production in a timely manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Move parts on the plant floor and in the shipping/receiving area through the operation of a forklift truck.
• Supply parts to assembly stations and sequencing lanes in a timely manner.
• Load and unload parts from trucks.
• Maintain stock in an organized fashion (FIFO).
• Train employees when needed.
• Assist with monthly physical inventories and daily cycle counts.
• Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through appropriate channels; participate in Kaizen/MPS activities.
• Work in a manner that promotes teamwork among fellow employees.
• Complete all paperwork associated with the job assignment in an accurate and timely manner.
• Display a positive attitude towards safety; work safely and follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Report all unsafe and unhealthy conditions or acts to management immediately.
• Report injuries, accidents, illnesses, near misses, and property damage immediately to your Supervisor.
• Comply with all Health, Safety, and Environmental standards in accordance with company policies, OSHA, and MIOSHA.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Education / Certification / Licensure

• Powered Industrial Truck Permit required (must achieve a passing score on the Powered Industrial Truck training tests administered by LM Manufacturing Detroit).

Experience

• Two (2) to three (3) years operating a forklift and Tugger.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Team-oriented; communicates well with others and is able to interact with people at all levels and departments.
• Detail-oriented with good documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently under general supervision.
• Demonstrated ability to operate material handling equipment (i.e., forklift truck).

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

• Work performed in a manufacturing plant environment.
• Exposed to varying temperatures within the plant depending upon external weather conditions.
• Continuously sits and operates a forklift truck.
• Frequently grips/grasps, bends/stoops, crouches, pushes, pulls, lifts, and carries over thirty (30) lbs.
• Occasionally climbs on and off the forklift truck.
• Must be available to work overtime including weekends and holidays.
