Reports To: Clinical Operations Coordinator
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Soriano Med is a fast-growing, patient-centered internal medicine and primary care practice in Rockledge, Florida, committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate care. We are seeking a skilled and versatile Medical Assistant to support both clinical and administrative operations.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in patient intake, phlebotomy, injections, EMR management, referrals, prior authorizations, and patient communication. This role is essential in maintaining efficient patient flow, supporting providers, and ensuring a positive patient experience in a fast-paced multi-provider practice.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinical Responsibilities

Prepare patients for examination by obtaining vital signs, medical history, allergies, and medication reconciliation.

Assist providers during examinations and procedures.

Perform venipuncture and collect laboratory specimens.

Administer injections (IM, ID, SubQ), vaccinations, and medications as ordered by providers.

Perform diagnostic testing including EKG, Spirometry, and rapid testing (COVID, Flu, Strep).

Perform wound care, dressing changes, and suture removals, and IV placement and removal.

Maintain exam rooms stocked, clean, sanitized, and compliant with infection control standards.

Ensure patient safety protocols are followed at all times.
Administrative Responsibilities

Review and process prescription refill requests.

Submit and follow up on prior authorizations for medications, imaging, and treatments.

Process referrals and coordinate specialist appointments.

Handle DME orders and documentation.
-
Answer patient phone calls, portal messages, and clinical questions.

Review and manage provider task buckets in the EMR.

Ensure patient charts are complete and accurate prior to appointments.

Assist with obtaining medical records and processing records requests.

Document all patient interactions accurately and timely in the EMR.

Support insurance verification and administrative workflows as needed.
Education and certifications:
-
High School Diploma or GED required.
-
Medical Assistant Diploma or Certification preferred.
-
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA/CCMA) preferred.

BLS Certification required or must obtain within 90 days.

Phlebotomy Certification preferred.
Experience:
-
Minimum 1 year of experience in a primary care or outpatient setting preferred.

Experience with phlebotomy required.

Experience with prior authorizations, referrals, and prescription workflows strongly preferred.

Familiarity with Athena preferred.

Strong clinical and administrative multitasking abilities.

Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance authorization processes.

Excellent communication and patient service skills.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Ability to prioritize and manage high-volume workflows efficiently.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
